has he ever played well against us, as another big game passes him by? Maybe we've got the measure of his runs and his crab-like passing. The new Paul Scholes. Invisible.

He was Didi's bitch last night.

And Essien? His price might be five times what we payed for Momo, but the horrible c*** is only half the player.

Chelsea as a team have only once played well against us since Mourinho went there and Benitez came here and I think last night pretty much confirmed that that result was more down to Hyypia's illness than anything else.

He was schite, Mike, as he normally is in a game such as this. Sometimes I get the impression the only thing justifying his huge reputation is his fantastic finishing rate for a midfielder. He takes up some wonderful forward positions, but he's central midfielder. In my day we called that cheating.

Talk about shoot on sight. As a "world-class" player, he should know when he's misfiring and not waste every decent buildup his team has with a 40 yard blast into the stands. Fair enough having a go if you're putting them consistently on target, but after the 15th shot, he could have laid off it a bit.

:D

Does he always have this many shots at goal? I don't watch him too often but the amount of times they lost possision because he tried his luck from hopeless positions would've pissed me off if I was his teammate. Of course his 15 or something league goals might cheer them up. ;)

A real central midfielder, does both, breaks things up and gets on the end of moves with good runs. Was talking to Graham Kavanagh since Saturday and he said he's never seen anything like the running power of Steven Gerrard last weekend. A monster is the way he described him. As good without the ball as he is with it.

The dirty Sun-promoting pr*ck is the most over-rated footballer in England. How the f*** he was voted second best player in Europe, I'll never know.

I can hardly believe Sven is messing aounnd Stevie just to accomodate a fat b*****d that shouldn't even be in the starting 11.

agree entirely about lampard, think he's a show player, style over substance. number of times he could play his forwards in and opts to shoot is shocking.

He is exactly like Scholes - he is an "attacking half" central midfielder who only looks good with a workaholic next to him like Makelele (or Keane in Scholes' case).

Likewise, has anybody seen Damien Duff have a good game for about two years?! Last night he was woeful and whenever I see Chelsea games he doesn't impress. Thought SWP did more in 10 mins than either Robben or Duff.

Lumplard's performance showed that he is nowhere near "world class". He needs a grafter like Makelele alongside him to do the dirty work. I don't recall Souness having to send somebody out to do his tackling. Great midfield players get hold of games and dictate them. Gerrard will be doing that next season with Rafa's guidance.

Last night all he had was that dog Essien who is an alehouse kicker and has no football brain. Essien's as close to Makelele as I am.

So the result was that Lumplard looked what he is: a decent enough player who has by chance ended up surrounded by other good players. The sum of the parts is greater than the individual components in that team.

Been thinking that for a long time, it seems his creativity has been stifled somewhat. Always seems to pick the easy option, which is a good trait for a left back, but for someone like him to be afraid to take responsibility speaks volumes for the manager.

People are giving Garcia stick for losing possesion, but atleast he works his ass off and never hides. Robben and Duff go missing time and time again and last night was another example. I would have Garcia over any of those two anytime.

I thought some of Lampard's passing was neat although he gave the ball away twice shockingly. Got in between our lines well a couple of times. You can see why he scores so many he must have had about 6 shots and he was no way offside. He doesn't scare me as a player though. Not enough in his armoury

Sammya in missing the point post, we came here to bury Fat Frank, not to praise him.

that's not praising him. it was describing him and his performance. If you want to see praise then find me a didi hamann thread relating to last night

How many players have the luxury of shooting from wherever regradless of players in better positions. Which players have the luxury of not having to track back and tackle. The joker on ESPN last night said Lampard is a great box to box midfielder.

Granted he does score some crackers but could you imagine Gerrard carelessly shooting EVERY time he gets the ball. One in 15 must go in. I would hate to play on the same team as the c***.
