Ombudsam Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 Dunno about you, but I thought he was very good against La Coruna in Spain last season, I'm not sure if Rafa will start with two upfront, so Garcia in the advanced role like DLC away, could be interesting to see.990657 My memory of garcia in that game is him running clean through on goal, rounding the keeper only then to realise he'd forgotten to take the ball. i though kewell was up front with baros anyway not GarciaPosts merged:Rafa says in an interview on the official that he think that the Spanish defenders will have a lot of trouble with Crouch due to his size and the fact that most defenders in Spain are under 6 foot. 990693 but according to almost everyone on this site height matters not a jot in a cb so rafa is clearly wrongPosts merged:Maybe Zenden instead of Riise. 992066 I can't make up my mind between Zenden and riise. When i watch Zenden i think Riise should play and when i watch Riise i think zenden should play
Figaro Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 neithercan cross - so there's not much difference really is there....
Ronnie Whelan Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 -------------ReinaFinnan - Carra - Hyypia - Warnock---------Alonso Sissoko-------------Garcia - Gerrard - Riise----------Crouchy990692 Whether its Riise or Zenden thats a quality side. Crouch can hold the ball up really well for the unrushing LG, SG & JAR/BZ, With Luis and John getting down both flanks to deliver ball into crouch. Defensively solid too.
larry31 Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 are real betis better than say spurs? can't say i've seen much of them
McBain Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 neithercan cross - so there's not much difference really is there....992285 JAR has the bonus of being more likely to score. Therefore should get the nod. Not sure what Rafa panned when he bought Zenden, considering we had all those players for the centre, Gonzalez on his way, Riise here, and Kewell to return at some point

liverbird04 Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 "Xabi Alonso is tipped to join Steven Gerrard and Momo Sissoko in a five man midfield behind Peter Crouch, who will want to impress the watching Sven Goran Eriksson. Josemi could also be in line for a surprise recall, allowing Steve Finnan to push into midfield" this was from chris basecombe in the echo ,weird very weird.will garcia play ,will he play on the left ?will warnock play ? raffa always springs a surprise or two ,can never predict him thats for sure.
larry31 Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 not really wierd, josemi said himself that he has had good results against betis in the past, and hes gotta start sometime knowing rafas rotation policy.

Djimi, Diouf etc but Josemi fills me with absolute dread when he plays full back, he's destroyed by any pace whatsoever. Seems to have potential as cover at CB, but I don't think I could handle 90 mins of him tonight. Although on second thoughts he was a decent full back when he played in Spain, so maybe he has the experience Rafa wants. I'm confusing myself now, think I'l stick with option A, keep him away from the side.

Benitez Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 That is terrible news, 992374 terrible news? Get a grip! It's a football match.
fred milne Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 Team will be: -------------ReinaFinnan - Carra - Hyypia - Warnock---------Alonso Sissoko-------------Garcia - Gerrard - Riise----------CrouchyThat works for me. The only debate in my mind is Sissoko vs Hamann. Didi was born to play in these kind of games, but then again Momo is in sparkling form....Posts merged:I can't make up my mind between Zenden and riise. larry31 Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 i'd have hyypia in the middle of the back 3 but that looks pretty good actually

Edited September 13, 2005 by Ronnie Whelan
Roarcelona Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 Not too worried by it. Josemi always looks ok it Europe. Was only in the Premier League where he struggled.
fred milne Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 i'd have hyypia in the middle of the back 3 but that looks pretty good actually 992395That would make sense - Hyypia doesn't relish being dragged out of the centre, whilst Carra has played LB many times. Truth be told if we were going 3 at the back I'd rather see Traore (gasp!) than Josemi as one of the centre-backs.
Ombudsam Posted September 13, 2005 Author Posted September 13, 2005 (edited) Josemi could also be in line for a surprise recall, allowing Steve Finnan to push into midfield"992353 as my little cousin would say "awwww man" Edited September 13, 2005 by sammya
Roarcelona Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 I think playing 3 at the back against a team which features Joaquin as one of its wingers would be quite dangerous. Flat back 4 for this game please.
Romario Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 ------------------------Reina---------Carragher---Hyypia----TroareFinnan-------Alonso--------sissoko---------Riise----------------------Gerrard------------------Crouch--CisseTakes balls to play 3 at the back tonight but it worked against Milan in the second half so who knows.
Guest ziggystardust Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 that 352 would probably revert to 532 ala juventus. looks strong to me.
McBain Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 That was planned by the way, not panned Rafa leaves the panning to us lot
Stevie H Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 no way will we go 2 up front when a draw is a good result. no chance.
