Toni Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 IMO this makes perfet sense. First i want to point out that we need steed as a squad player, to add depth to the squad and just to replace the deadwoods Biscan and Diao in the pecking order. Steed would always provide to be a handy reliable substitute throughout this year and in future years. Unlike biscan or diao, he can give our team a valid contribution, as he is more technically gifted, is faster, is able to create chances and score goals. He is still very young. Would not cost too much. Can play as central mid or right mid, or even in the hole when we choose to play the 4-5-1 system, e.g in this years CL. can play in Cl. This is my case for steed. i think him and a promising keeper should be our only next buys in this january transfer window, and sell biscan, diao etc. Just the perfect buy in our current situation.
Guest Mozza Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 Just out of interest, haven't Man City accepted an £8.3million bid from Fenerbahce for Nicola Anaelka ?
Rimbeux Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 I would argue we need to buy creative wide players who are prepared to stay wide creating width they dont have to be wingers, but they do need to be creative, whether by throughball or crossand stay wide to stretch the play we desperately needed such players against Man Yoo We also need a bloke in the middle of the park capable of passing to them. There was a bloke, once, can't place his name, who's passing was giving us width.
Siang Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 Yeah, but eh when Smicer comes back eh maybe not. If we're buying someone else like Aimar than hell no, but otherwise he is a sound buy on the cheap. when is Smicer due back?
Flanders Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 (edited) We need to save our money until an actual right winger becomes available. Nunez should play right wing until May, he has a decent cross on him and he seems happy to stay wide and offer us width, something neither Malbranque or Garcia do. Edited January 16, 2005 by Flanders

floyd Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 smicer is more of a winger, Smicer is not a winger, he likes to play the withdrawn role behind the striker. Thats the role he plays for the Czechs and Lens, to great sucess.
abuusayd Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 Steed is the wrong nationality to be bought at the moment. If your name's not Spanish then you're not coming in.

Bailo Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 Steed is the wrong nationality to be bought at the moment. If your name's not Spanish then you're not coming in. Where does this "Spanish" play? Is he a ball-playing pacy centreback who sticks to the wings and tracks back?
abuusayd Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 To be technical Spanish Speaking from La Liga.
Zoob Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 Malbranque's picked up a potentially serious injury in today's game - so he'd fit right in if we signed him.
