Frosty Jack Posted November 25, 2024 Posted November 25, 2024 Is there a youth player you were convinced was going to make it at Liverpool and didn’t? Going way back but saw Ian Armstrong in a few reserve games and expected him to progress out of that group.
allez les rouges Posted November 25, 2024 Posted November 25, 2024 Partidge, lee Jones, John Welsh were all on my watch list. As well as Ibe more recently. It just shows how difficult it is to break through and stay there. I think at least 50% of it is mentality in addition to exceptional talent. Its probably why I never made it. Either becuase of my weak mind or my lack of exceptional talent. One or the other. 2
PhilM Posted November 25, 2024 Posted November 25, 2024 I remember thinking that Kristian Nemeth was going to be the business, and my youth scouting career ended right there. 1 1
Cheesecake Posted November 25, 2024 Posted November 25, 2024 Les Gems, dear god so much promise but ultimately so underwhelming apart from one e or two highlight moments. 1

downunder Posted November 25, 2024 Posted November 25, 2024 The most recent one would be Woodburn. Does Mark Kennedy count - he was young.
LFCNeil90 Posted November 25, 2024 Posted November 25, 2024 I thought Dani Pacheco was going to be a star

Don’t think GH’s love of Heskey helped them and they didn’t get the games due to the pressure GH was under to win games too.

BigBird Posted November 25, 2024 Posted November 25, 2024 Read recently that Bobby Clark is having a good season at Red Bull Salzburg. Clark is a first team regular and one of his midfield colleagues praised his work ethic and technical ability. I recall Newcastle being upset when he left them to join us. Sorry he didn't cut it at Anfield but pleased to know he's doing well. 1

Frosty Jack Posted November 25, 2024 Author Posted November 25, 2024 David Thompson did have a season or so in and around the first team squad. I thought it a mistake to sell at the time. He had a certain fight in him we were lacking elsewhere and was more talented than he is remembered I think. Recall that Ged lost patience with his attitude. 2
