Frosty Jack Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Bit late for this thread, but with all the São Paulo teams now out it's safe for me to put my head above the parapet. Riquelme, with a little help from some bizarre refereeing saw off Corinthians last night.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9boyUj15h0Glad I watched at home, i'd have nowhere to drink otherwise. The mighty Atlético Mineiro are already through & Grêmio play Santa Fé tonight.
muleskinner Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 would it get a bit tasty if you vented your support in public?
Frosty Jack Posted May 16, 2013 Author Posted May 16, 2013 would it get a bit tasty if you vented your support in public? With the Corinthians fans yes, and practically everyone serving you in neighbourhood bars seem to be connected to Gaviões da Fiel. I got given a Palmeiras shirt, wouldn't even wear it out besides at the game itself. Outside SP, fine.

Frosty Jack Posted May 17, 2013 Author Posted May 17, 2013 pfft...bottler I used to wear mine everywhere This from the guy who recommended I visit the bar in a hotel that had not existed for over a decade. Back to the football: Santa Fe eliminated Gremio last night unfortunately so of the Brazilian teams, only Galo & Flu remain, facing Tijuana and Olimpia of Paraguay in the quarters respectively.

Frosty Jack Posted May 17, 2013 Author Posted May 17, 2013 pretty sure I mentioned ceteris paribus Flu are my second team, whereas Fla can f*** off In RDJ I prefer Botafogo, but concur that Fla can f*** off.
Frosty Jack Posted May 23, 2013 Author Posted May 23, 2013 Quarters this week. Flu held 0-0 by Olympia last night while Santa Fe won away at Real Garcilaso. Tonight it's more interesting, Boca Juniors - Newell's Old Boys, and Tijuana host Galo, who are probably now favourites.Maxi should feature in the former.
Frosty Jack Posted May 31, 2013 Author Posted May 31, 2013 Seem to be howling into an empty forest here, but anyway. Flu out.Boca out.Galo escaped a late scare tonight against the surprisingly impressive Tijuana to go through. Semis will be Olimpia - Santa Fe, Newell's Old Boys - Atletico Mineiro. Very entertaining competition this year.

Stanley Leisure Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Why can Fla f*ck off? I play five a side in their home shirt every week so i'm like a proper fan. I also have Sao Paulo's away shirt but it doesn't fit as well.

Galo favourites, best team in it since the beginning.Edit: the semis will be played after the confederations cup. 2nd July. Edited June 4, 2013 by Niemeyer
Frosty Jack Posted July 2, 2013 Author Posted July 2, 2013 It's back, so time to resurrect this popular thread. Semis start tonight with Olimpia-Santa Fe, but the tasty one is Newell's Old Boys - Atletico-MG tomorrow. Streams in the usual places. Are ESPN or anyone showing Libertadores in the UK?
Frosty Jack Posted July 2, 2013 Author Posted July 2, 2013 The last couple of weeks have been quite interesting!

Frosty Jack Posted July 3, 2013 Author Posted July 3, 2013 Santa Fe tonight, I'd say Galo tomorrow, but Newell's Old Boys have the best name in World Football, therefore have the edge.
Cheesecake Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 do any of the players at the Confed Cup get to play in these games? I take it your money is on ABMG overall?
Frosty Jack Posted July 3, 2013 Author Posted July 3, 2013 do any of the players at the Confed Cup get to play in these games? I take it your money is on ABMG overall? I'm not sure about Confeds players. Bernard is supposed to be going to England, Rever was only ever on the bench for Brasil, but i'm sure Jo will start tonight. Not sure whether Maxi is playing yet. Olimpia beat Santa Fe tonight 2-0, second leg will be interesting (both SF SLs played on the 10th). Yes, i'd still expect Galo to win the thing.
Frosty Jack Posted July 4, 2013 Author Posted July 4, 2013 (edited) Newell's only went & beat AMG 2-0, our Maxi & Scocco. http://youtu.be/fnSa4n1HUzE Edited July 4, 2013 by Niemeyer
Stevie H Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 you don't give a player as smart as maxi that kind of space in the box.
cymrococh Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 you don't give a player as smart as maxi that kind of space in the box. There's another lad lining up behind him as well.
Stevie H Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 There's another lad lining up behind him as well.that's mini rodriguez.
SkippyjonJones Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 Maxi, Maxi, MAXI !!!! he had a good game! goofy is rubbish these days... he spent most of the game standing in the middle, waiting for the ball to be passed righ to his feet so he could do a fancy flick onto someone who actually gave a s***. the rest of the time he's waving his arms around at the defense and blaming them for everything...
