Nathan Explosion Posted October 14, 2024 Posted October 14, 2024 All Going forward, please cease posting links to sites offering streams for viewing of matches, or for the viewing of highlights. I've been receiving regular DMCA requests for the removal of links from the site in the past few weeks and handling them on a case-by-case basis but the most recent one I've received today has a huge list that I need to take care of later on today. If this is not adhered to then I will be putting in place moderator review on posts that contains links to sites, so that they can be reviewed before being seen publicly. Thanks Dave UPDATE 15th October: Having gone through ~10% of the over 1,000 posts highlighted in the most recent DMCA request, I have added the following to the listing of links not allowed to be posted here: footybite.com www.stream2watch.me Any posts containing links to those sites will be held for moderator approval. Additional sites may be added. 6 1 1
Nathan Explosion Posted October 24, 2024 Author Posted October 24, 2024 As someone has asked whether links are allowed for Twitter posts where a brief match clips is shown... If in doubt, don't post it but... If it's an official source of the clip (Sky/TNT/UEFA etc) posting the content on their official accounts then crack on. If it's not an official source of the clip posting it then crack on if you wish - eventually it is likely that the official source of the clip will submit their copyright infringement request to Twitter for the content to be taken down. Replace twitter with youtube or any other site where people can post stuff. The issue here is those sites that are specifically set up to provide methods by which you can watch matches/highlights via unofficial sources. Content in this forum is crawled by Google, and means that links posted can be located - so if, for example, NBC become aware of https://dodgysitethathostscontent.duh then they can submit requests to Google (and other search sites) to determine if that link has been shared on other websites. They would then submit their DCMA requests (or worse, a full site taken down request) to the original source and to anyone sharing that link - which is where I currently have to go through a load of historical posts to remove those links/delete the post. Note: use your noodle - if in doubt, don't post it. 3 2
Nathan Explosion Posted October 24, 2024 Author Posted October 24, 2024 And seeing as some seem to have assumed that these DCMA requests are related to content posted by oojason - I've gone through 75% of the posts in the DCMA reports and none of them are oojason's posts. Once I've got to 100% on the above checks, I'll be going through oojason's own content at some point to delete anything that could potentially result in another DCMA request at a later point. And I'll be going through others posts too. 4
