Dalglish Posted October 9, 2024 Posted October 9, 2024 Jürgen Klopp is to become the new Head of Global Soccer Red Bull. Official confirmation to follow. Related article (in German)
épieur Posted October 9, 2024 Posted October 9, 2024 Sounds like a terrible job for someone like him tbh. Also surprised he's back working so quickly.
Gethin Posted October 9, 2024 Posted October 9, 2024 So his first job will probably be sacking Ljinders then 2
Dalglish Posted October 9, 2024 Posted October 9, 2024 And it's official: Jürgen Klopp joins Red Bull
TheLa Posted October 9, 2024 Posted October 9, 2024 Don't like red bull and the whole "franchise" s***, but reckon it's a good job for Jürgen. Get's to be involved in the game but without the weight of expectation of club management. He can also bail out and be Germany manager at some point and then probably retire happy and minted. Good luck to him, I say. But also, f*** off red bull you gang of sugar caffeine hyped, corporate bellends.

Maharajkumar of Vizianagram Posted October 9, 2024 Posted October 9, 2024 Getting lots of vitriol in Germany for this apparently
Romario Posted October 9, 2024 Posted October 9, 2024 Surprised by this. Seems very soon after leaving us and it’s quite the corporate gig which I didn’t think he’d be very interested in. Good luck all the same.

But I can see why he's taken it, no media scrutiny, no pressure from the fans, no daft a*** decisions from the Fa or Uefa to contend with. He may come to miss that pressure but you could see last season it was taking it's toll on him so I just think good luck to him.
Falconhoof Posted October 9, 2024 Posted October 9, 2024 He's gone for a fairly cushy job without too much presdure and presumably loads of time off, and who can blame him. There's some convergence between the way FSG and Red Bull like to run their clubs. Perhaps there are also loads of ways that they differ, but those don't easily spring to mind. Makes me wonder what can of worms would be unleashed if there happened to be some sort of corporate connection in the future.

cocknose Posted October 9, 2024 Posted October 9, 2024 Well I for one am delighted he seems to be taking the easy route in life and not joining Bayern or Madrid as manager 1
Tosh Posted October 9, 2024 Posted October 9, 2024 Guardian reporting he has a get out clause to apply for the Germany job when Nagelsman goes. Looks so weird in a suit though https://www.theguardian.com/football/2024/oct/09/jurgen-klopp-returning-to-football-as-red-bull-head-of-global-soccer

Isn't this basically doing the same job as Edwards has for FSG? If so, I wonder if there's an element of "I'll show him how to do it better" in Jurgen's decision
Leo No.8 Posted October 9, 2024 Posted October 9, 2024 Bit weird this really but best of luck Jurgen in whatever you choose to do with your life x

He's also probably being paid whatever salary he asked for so I can see why it's appealing.
Cam Posted October 9, 2024 Posted October 9, 2024 Anyone who has ever followed anything he's said about the Red Bull model won't be surprised by this. 1
Cam Posted October 9, 2024 Posted October 9, 2024 It seems like a glorified marketing title. Like being VP of a company in the US. It's a temp thing to give him an income whilst still largely on vacation - semi-retired coaches do it all the time. It gives him an occasional coaching day out and it gives Red Bull the marketing clout of saying the mighty Jurgen Klopp is on their elite sporting books. The big kick will be when he's had enough of turning up once a month and takes over the day-to-day running of one of the Red Bull teams.
