Firmino was the better player for us, but longevity doesn't necessarily equate to someone being fundamentally a better player.

I still have debates with myself around Salah and Suarez for example. I feel really s*** about it but even to do this day, after everything I still think Suarez is the best player I've ever seen play for Liverpool.

I know they did very different things but they both led the line for us. Torres for four years, Firmino for 8.

I can’t help how my heart felt watching Torres do what he did so I’d say him although it was probably Bobby in reality

That's so so difficult to answer.

Torres was a one off and arrived when we desperately needed someone that could make us think we could beat anyone on our day and we did. He was an unreal player and that period when he linked up with Gerrard so well was amazing.

But I have a massive soft spot for Bobby though.  His unselfishness and self sacrifice for the betterment of the team when he's clearly an incredible footballer summed up Klopp's approach and philosophy for me. The ultimate team player and won everything with a smile on his face.

I think you could drop Torres into any team and he'd make it more dangerous though while Bobby makes a good team great if it's built around him.

Torres was probably a better Striker but I prefer Bobby overall as a footballer.

We're really lucky to be in a position to be able to agonize over whether two A+ players are better than each other.

It's like Sam Fox choosing which of her bangers is best.

Torres. Not that close either.

LOL... I'd have said the exact opposite, Bobby by some distance.

They're as different as two number 9s can be in terms of their style of play. Torres had an exceptional first season, and was less good after. Firmino built to a peak after starting under Rodgers.

Torres best (first) season was 33 goals, Firmino's 27, but Firmino had 16 assists on top.

That's kind of how I always remember Torres, just exploded and was brilliant, but injuries and form never allowed him to match that first season. Will admit Firmino played in a better team, and he was more technical and less of a power/pace monster, but he'll always be the one I'll remember more fondly.Just an incredible team player.

Yeah agree. Firmino played nearly every game and enabled us to win every trophy available.

Torres was a great striker but got injured a lot (our form returned in 08/09 when he came back from injury), won nothing with us then left us to play for Chelsea. Not only that but he put his transfer request in 3 days before the window shut which made us rush the replacement. Didn’t give Kenny till the end of the season at least.  t***

Loved Torres at the time but you can’t compare him to genuine legends of the club

My gut instinct says Torres because he was silky, elegant and did stuff with the ball we hadn't seen in years before he came. And at the time, the discussion was if he was the best forward in the world and Firmino was more "is he genuinely world class?"

But thinking more thoroughly, Torres had one great season, one good and two that were sorta ok. He scored 14 league goals in the 08/09 season which was the peak of Rafa's side. In the end, he wasn't really as influential as he should have been.

Firmino was obviously not about the goals, and played in a better team. But he also played a significant part in elevating that team to the greater heights it reached.

I think it's Firmino and reckon as time passes, that's the assessment that will grow.

Firmino played for Liverpool twice as long and won literally everything with us.

Regardless of how much I liked Torres and a belief that the 08/09 team was one of the best we ever had (in far more difficult ownership circumstances), there’s still no contest for me.

So Firmino is better than Suarez too? Is Fabinho better than Gerrard seeing Gerrard didn't win the league?

A unequal comparison. Torres was a true centerforward, Firmino was a hybrid of sorts but never a true 9. Torres was a better finisher and  striker, but Firmino a better creator, and is a better overall footballer. Torres also depended a lot on his pace, once the injuries started hampering and that diminished, he was never the same player.

If it were a simple comparison, there wouldn't be much to discuss would there?

Firmino needs players with pace around him and also massively dropped off towards the end of his Liverpool career.

Torres. Him and 10 journeymen and you'd have a chance.

didn't at Chelsea

Atleti - goal every 2.7 games
Liverpool - 1.75
Chelsea - 3.8

Career - 2.9

He was only really sensational at Liverpool. But f*** was he

Firmino got old. Torres dropped  off after his first season and continued to do so, he was never the same
