So this VAR guy must be new to the PL. Was he doing Championship games previously?

Will be a hair-raising experience for him

Is it only after Wednesday European away games where you can't play 12.30 Saturday?

Do BT get first pick of games. They seem to pick our games more than anyone.

Referee: Simon Good Process Lads

VAR: David Baldasa

Oh that's just fantastic.

I don't like that at all. Our away record with each of these two is poor

Sky get 1st pick, us away to Palace wouldn’t be top of the tree for the weekend. But we do big numbers in Asia so Saturday lunchtime is Saturday night over there and K£rching!

Palace away always feels like a tricky fixture but our record there is pretty good. Great opportunity to stretch the lead at the top of the table early doors. Vital too as City, Arsenal and Villa all have easy home games.

It's nearly always tricky, apart from the 7-0 or 8-0 before Edwards and the boys ruined the season by not buying a good centre back, but we have a brilliant record there.

So we've not lost there since Rodgers was manager - back in late 2014

since then we've won 8 and drawn 1

but within that it's become the game with the late goals/winner

2016 - won 2-1, Benteke penalty in the 96th minute

2018 - won 2-1, Salah 84th minute winner

2018 - won 2-0, Mane 2nd goal in the 93rd minute

2019 - won 2-1, Firmino 85th minute winner

2022 - won 3-1, 3rd goal Fabinho pen 89th minute

2023 - won 2-1, Elliott 91st minute winner

Its always a scrap, even in their current form it will likely be another on Saturday.

Don't think they've been as bad as their form suggests

Will be a tough one, I'd take a 1-0 loss

0-0 might be better as they'd have to get an away goal at ours. Is Ibe likely to be fit for them?

'Jordan Ibe is 28 years old and was released last season by Ebbsfleet United, currently without a club'.

He was a brilliant prospect 5 minutes ago, his fall from grace is astonishing, there must be serious character flaws there one would think?

He struggled with mental health

Poor lad, I'm not surprised though, not so easy to fix compared to torn ligaments.

Yep, missing all these games because he was cup tied wouldn't have helped either

Our record is good, but every game bar the 7-0 there, is close and nervy.

Anyway, I really hope we make a few changes, because I can't see us being at our best, 3rd game in a week, with a relatively same line up. Jones,Gakpo and either Gomez/Tsimikas should be getting some minutes, I'd be even tempted to rest Trent.

Even that was touch and go in the early exchanges. True story

Doesn't seem all that long ago he was playing for our first XI and getting post-match Juergen hugs.
