The 2024 Copa America runs from Friday 21 June to Monday 15 July (UK dates and kick off times), and is being held in the USA. 

This Copa America features 16 teams from both the South American (CONMEBOL) and North & Central American (CONCACAF) confederations. 

The 16 teams are divided into 4 groups of 4 teams, with the Top 2 sides from each group qualifying for the 'Last 8' Knockout Stage of the tournament.

Yeah, Uruguay really made this their own competition in the earlier years. Even now they've reached more Copa finals than Brazil have, though Brazil have lost in the Final on an impressive 11 occasions! Uruguay only losing 6 and winning the rest.

A real pity the kick off times for this Copa America are just so late, UK time. Though the thing should get interesting in the final Group Stage round, and the Knockout Stages are nearly always... eventful 😉

Aye aye the ref makes a big announcement when he does the VAR in this.  Just sent off a Peruvian lad for er following through and got on the mic to tell us all about it.

Good stuff we're seeing more of this - leaves nobody in doubt (either at the game - or watching on TV) of what is actually going on.

A pity it took IFAB 8 years to implement that... and yet they still resist recommendations to broadcast communications like they do in rugby union etc between the ref, assistants, & the TMO... instead of looking to actually be open, transparent and honest.

https://v.redd.it/87o3q0d631ad1 - I like that... definitely an advantage to the quick-thinking fouled side, and a chance to negate certain teams who employ tactical/cynical fouling to stop being quickly counter-attacked on.

Fair play to Panama for qualifying along side Uruguay too.

But the commentators and the pundits seem to think they are good. Other than Pulisic, they have very little in the way of quality players. Defensively, they're not too bad, but everywhere else is average at best.

Alisson played all 90 minutes in Brazil's 1-1 draw with Colombia, Luis Diaz playing 89 minutes. Both sides go through to the knockout stages along with Uruguay's Nunez and Argentina's Mac Allister...
