Endo has to start

Our Arsenal game will be reffed by Kavanagh (generally regarded as the next best after the top 2, Taylor and Oliver) with Coote on VAR.

You don’t leave Trent out

Only Ali and Virgil are undroppable for me (Salah almost but the rules for forwards are different). If Trent plays the position Joe plays then he starts as he's the better player in the same shape. If Trent plays to meander into a double pivot taking up space and no longer providing shape down the right, then yes, I'd start Joe

Think this is a big call now - Gomez has been great at right back the last few games. Trent either plays rb or midfield for me, not both. That dual role is only going to work if the rest of the midfield is functioning perfectly and with a better 6 than we have right now.

It's not a big call at all, Trent starts unless he's injured.

Cant believe there is a discussion about whether the best right back in the country plays and whether he plays at right back.

Gomez has been great, good to have as an option across the back 4

There’s a discussion because it’s a forum designed for discussion and there have been times eg last night where he has played midfield with Gomez at right back. He clearly likes playing in midfield. Klopp and the coaching staff have clearly been working on stuff. I can’t believe there’s a discussion about there being a discussion

Do you think Saturdays is the match that Jurgen starts him in midfield?

No I think he probably goes Jones Endo Dom with TAA right back

Surely after Curtis's performance tonight, the team picks itself with the exception of the left two of the front three?  I'd guess Nunez left and Gakpo in the middle.

Yes - there's a clear best XI fit and available

Allison

TAA-VVD-Konate-Tsimikas

Szobaslai-Endo-Jones

Salah-Gakpo-Nunez

Yep be very surprised if it’s not this. Diaz was well rested last night which makes me wonder a little bit, but has to be Nunez on the left. Let him occupy their right back at the very least.

I think if Gakpo starts as the 9 there’s less need for the RB to come inside and make up another number in midfield as Gakpo drops deep a lot (like Bobby but not as good). So could be that we see Trent start in midfield for the first time in the league in the near future

Whatever team we put out we should be winning this. Last season was the best Arsenal team of the last 5 years against the worst Liverpool team of the last 5 years and they were lucky to come away with a point after our missed penalty and missed sitter in the last minute

I expect us to beat everyone at Anfield but Arsenal are a good team, top of the league. It won't be easy.

I reckon Gomez and Elliott can rightfully feel disappointed if they don't start, but the team picks itself. And having in form players chomping at the bit to get into the side is a good thing

Elliott's sub appearances deserve more starts but he's got Szoboszlai in front of him. He's never really played well on the left of a midfield 3.

I don’t think we’ve quite adjusted to how good Arsenal are in our minds. We’re really good and it’s Anfield so without question, we have to be looking to win.

They’re a really good side though. Last year wasn’t a fluke. They were building to that and they’ve carried on. I’m worried that after his top performance at Anfield last year, we walk away from tomorrow’s game asking who we have to compete with Rice.
