What positions would they play now?

I reckon Owen would be a Sterling in the left. Just dunno about Robbie. I know he played upfront by himself occasionally but I don’t see it in today’s game.

cutting in from the right in a 433 maybe?

Fowler would play centre forward. He was far better at everything than Jota, who plays up front. He could come deep and run in behind. Owen would be amazing too. If Vardy van score 20 goals Owen could get 30.

Jota is usually a better header of a ball?

Than Fowler? No chance. Jota is great at scoring headers too, though.

But, aye, Fowler isn't far better than Jota in the air. I think he was better, though.

Fowler was excellent in the air, jota is very good to, but fowler was a better imo.

Overall, imagine a young, fit, Robbie fowler in this team. He'd bag himself 40 a season, with ease!

Possibly the greatest finisher of a football I've ever seen playing for Liverpool

He scored over 30 goals twice by the time he was 22. He was unbelievable.

I reckon he could get 40 a season in this team too

I take it you want him in the middle. He’d have to run and press and stuff. That wasn’t really his thing.

It makes it sound like I have a downer on him. I don’t. He was incredible. I’m just trying to think of him between Salah and Mane and wondering if it works.

He’d get in this year’s team as we’ve been rubbish

Fowler was an amazing goalscorer of all kinds of goals. For about 2-3 years 98-01 ish Owen was simply electric and the one world star at the club at a time when the United bandwagon was going global... Owen was behind the original Ronaldo in age, experience and physique, but there was a period of time for us when I reckoned he was close to Ronaldo...

I remember him pressing and taking the ball off someone like Richard Shaw away to Palace and finishing with the outside of his left foot.

If he was coming through as an 18 year old now I reckon he'd be able to do everything. Training is different etc.

Yeah the coming through in today’s game point is interesting. I’d love to see what the modern interpretation of them is.

Both lads were f***ing brilliant and would have been at any point in the clubs history.

Yes but what would they look like in today’s game? Where would they play? Who would they be like? I think that’s really interesting.

Owen was lightning fast and strong, Robbie could do anything, he was wrecked by injury. Any coach would have them in. Both pure class.

Fowler could play the Firmino role comfortably

pre injury he was as good as it gets as a number 9 in any era

In a peak klopp team he’d be getting haaland level goals

Agree. I think in a klopp team robbie would be the 9. Only thing he would have lacked would have been a bit of height

Think owen would have to play as a wide forward cutting in

Robbie was similar to Suarez in style and would have played anywhere along the front three

In fact, Robbie with the durability of Suarez and he surpasses Shearer as leading PL goalscorer

Fowler was an impudent genius.
One of my all them favourite LFC players.

Owen had a flaw in that he’d need 4 or 5 games after injury to hit a flow again. Big miss v Leverkusen away too. Imagine he’d never torn that hamstring. He’d been worth 100m

And then some. Mbappe went for 166m.

fowler (along with gerrard) my favourite too. I wish they were in a Klopp team at their peak.

Paul Ince could do a job at DM in this team.
