Infantino just announced a 32 team World Club Cup tournament for 2025

As if the current four team format wasn’t crap enough. Bunch of clowns.

i thought the clubs/UEFA were rejecting this as they saw it as a challenge to the Champions League

maybe they wont dismatle these stadiums in Qatar just yet

No doubt it'll be staged in one of the Middle Eastern states at the end of an already arduous season.

Well Qatar have proven to be great hosts, so why not?

They wasted their money on David Beckham, they should have paid you £150m to promote the WC, Hass 😊

because football is a game for everyone

including gays

you do get that don’t you? It’s absolutely fine to think anti-Qatar means anti-Arab or generally racist because in many cases it does.

But this is more than ‘if you don’t plan on respecting local customs then don’t go’

I’ve been to Arab countries. And guess what: I respected the local customs and it was fine. It was my choice to go

That’s not the same as a football tournament. We don’t get a say where it’s held

but it’s football - the most important thing in the world. The idea that the tournament can be held somewhere where there is an ideological hatred of people just because of who they are, is…. well you know the rest

What percentage of the women’s England team is gay? it certainly ain’t one in ten. How do you think they feel? And these are actual winners of a tournament.

Why the women’s team?  How many of the men’s team are?

The question is where do you draw the line?

the US have terrible women’s rights.
they have terrible weapons control and continue to allow guns to be readily available. And driving whilst black is still a thing.

there aren’t many impacted by the anti gay sentiment in Qatar. There are millions impacted by the women’s rights, gun control or racism in the US.

yet there won’t be any uproar in 4 years time.

I’ve spoken to a few who went to Qatar. From a football perspective was amazing. Got to see lots of games, everyone was there for football and easy to get around. In the US you could have to fly from Toronto to Mexico City to New York to see your country play. And most cities won’t even know it’s happening. Won’t be anything exciting - will just be absorbed into day to day there.

certainly challenges with Qatar. But nowhere near as bad as been made out and that’s because it was unknown and not a western or footballing country, in my opinion.

it’s a conscious decision to outlaw homosexuality whilst hosting the WC

that should not be allowed to happen

lots of other bad stuff elsewhere too though

maybe we should stop the WC until it all gets sorted everywhere

How do you know the women’s team has more gay players than the men’s?

a Lioness told me

it’s not even close

and that shouldn’t be a surprise

at some point in the future, things will even out but atm it’s as one would expect in a male-dominated sport

You mean “as one would expect in a male-dominated sport that doesn’t have any homosexuals in it”
