Why is this Union Berlin thing a story?

It's the first time in their history being top of the league. They'd never been in the top flight before 2019. They were going out of existence years ago and the fans gave blood for money and gave it to the club to keep them going.

Probably just a nice story which doesn't happen in football very often any more. Most teams can only get good by being owned by billionaires willing to spend loads, or a state.

Thanks.

I’n old enough to remember Brighton being awful and bust and somehow staying up at Hereford’s expense.

If they’d gone out of business last year then they wouldn’t have drawn at Anfield and cost us the league. Swings and roundabouts.

Bayern could start their season after the international break and still cruise the title.

It was calculated 3/4 seasons ago that, if Neuer hadn't made a single save all season (every opposition shot on target was a goal), they still would have won the title.

Ha ha, that is simultaneously both absolutely brilliant and completely s***e.

UB have qualified for the champions league. Remarkable achievement.

It is and Hertha relegated too. All eyes on them in Berlin.

Shame we can't be drawn against them in the CL

The stars have aligned.

Hertha can do one.

I hope they don't change too much. I know a few people weren't happy about people like me going to watch them 3 or 4 times a season when I lived in Berlin. They should try to keep as many of their fans of 20-30 years in the ground as possible even if it means I can't watch them.
