Moving to Liverpool

I am looking at moving up to Liverpool to retire.. I don't want to move South.. I'm not rich enough.

I want to be near the coast, so looked at Crosby. Also able to join a golf course... 

Can you locals make some recommendations on wheres good and where to avoid... Budget 400k
