Trent back up, or Neco back up?

Assuming Neco will be sold based on his signing. Probably get a good fee for him I’d imagine.

22 is a good number for him.

Calvin isn't it time you stopped this mad life?

Don't you ever think about the bad times?

Why do you have to play this way?

Do you enjoy your play or is it the pay?

TAW had a guy on the other day talking about him, sounds like a Trent clone. Had 8/9 assists before Halloween last year and then a new more conservative manager came in.

I was wondering if he would get some game time as a sub this season given the 5 subs rule.

Even with 9 subs that can be named, it looks difficult for him to make the bench.

Assuming this is the XI, there is still some competition to make the bench

Alisson

TAA Konate VVD Robbo

Henderson Fabinho Thiago

Salah Nunez Diaz

  1. Kelleher
  2. Matip
  3. Gomez
  4. Tsimikas
  5. Keita
  6. Elliott
  7. Carvalho
  8. Jota
  9. Firmino
  10. Jones
  11. Milner
  12. Ox
  13. Ramsey
  14. Minamino

The phrase ‘before Halloween’ has really tickled me. I look forward to using it liberally, this forthcoming season.

When did John Carpenter direct 'Assault on Precinct 13'?

Kind of mad that £4.5 million is Aberdeen's record transfer fee.

I know we live in a bizarre world where PL clubs lose more than that running for the bus, but still.

The biggest fee they've ever paid seems to be a bit over £1m.  So them receiving £4.5m rising to £6.5m is a bit like us receiving a maximum fee £510m.  Or PSG receiving £1.2 billion.

f*** we're generous.

It is kind of skewed by the fact a few of them were against minnows in the Euro Conference or whatever its called qualifiers at the start of the season. He looked head and shoulders above everyone in them though, especially since he'd only played 2/3 times in the first team the season before. He started the league really well, got a few assists and would have got more if the attackers were any good, but then was out injured for two months.

The manager at the start of the season's tactics were fairly cavalier and worked against those minnows but were crap against anyone else really. The new manager came in in February and was a bit more conservative but the whole team bar two or three (including Calvin) were shocking for the whole season - one of Aberdeen's worst in a long time.

I'd be surprised if he plays much in the league this season as he is still very raw - similar complaints about Trent that he looks good going forward but can be naïve at the back - and the step up is obviously huge. Depending on what is happening with Neco and if Gomez is seen as 2nd choice RB, I could see him learning Klopp's style till January and then heading out on loan to the Championship.

And that transfer record was set back in 1989! They've only spent more than 500k on a player once since 1996, which is mad really.

Every other team wants a Trent

So I'd be pretty pleased if we got another one for a few million and just played him now and then to give the real Trent a rest

While they watch with envy and tell us that that lad the Mancs signed from Palace is good at one on ones...or Walker is dead fast or whatever

I think Rangers record purchase was Ryan Kent from us for about just £7m.

He's been great for them btw. Had an excellent Europa campaign on a personal level.

We just need a like for like backup at RB - Gomez has done well back end of last season but ultimately he is a defender and our full backs aren’t really defenders. Ramsey has clearly been identified primarily based on what he does going forward.

Agreed - but I still think we'll see some of Gomez at RB first half of this season whilst Ramsay gets up to speed.

Yes defo, and it’s good to have a guy who can defend and has his pace when required.
