It's a bit of fun and they've attempted to do it right by selecting a large panel of judges.

My main complaint is that about 15% of the panel are (former) players, and 85% are journalists. That's the wrong way round.

And only one of the ex-players is an actual star player. Zanetti. The panel should probably have consisted of him and Scolari and binned everyone else off. But it's so very Guardian to tell you who their panel of non-experts is before they launch their clickbait nonsense. And yet here we all are talking about it.

so i forgot about benzema, which means henderson & de jong both miss out.

de jong also isn't a top 10 player, but seeing how he's "officially" their best player it's strange to have Gavi, Busquets, Depay and Pedri on there and not him

I’m in the worst camp for all of this. I can’t get my head around caring about these lists but will then come into a thread like this and read all the comments on the list which is even more stupid then caring about the lists. Like some Gogglebox critic blert.

You spend all that time trying to carve 5 minutes away from the kids and partner and then do that with it.
