Awful news. Many may remember he contributed on here back in the day, in fact he once asked me why I was always being picked on!! I can't remember who the forumite who got him involved was, in fact I'm ot sure we didn't have a bit of a fund raiser for ray but I might well have imagined that.

But what a silky smooth footballer, a centre forward converted into a cultured midfielder, poetry in motion. I presume Parkinsons took him, may he rest in peace.

Imagine playing against that 78/79 midfield. McDermott, Souness, Case, Kennedy. Could outfight and outplay you all day long. And what a visionary move by Bob to sign Ray Kennedy as a striker and convert him to a cultured left midfielder.

Wasn’t there some money raised to get him on the internet back in those days?

As well as all the goals, that punt for Fairclough to run onto was class.

Bill Shankly signed him and then resigned the day he arrived.

Karl Coppack started the Ray of Hope appeal to help Ray Kennedy. Or he was very involved at least if he wasn't the only one who started it. I thought the PFA shouldn't be letting ex players not have good enough conditions to live in.

Behave - they have a massive wage bill to put first

So sad. Life did deal him a bad hand as he got older.

He was one of my favorites as well. I was a big left footed player and always imagined myself as him.

He scored some fantastic goals, Munich, St Etienne and many more.

RIP YNWA
