I hate these. We always struggle against them and its time to pay them back for being knocked in 2020. Alisson and Fabinho are in Spain and should make the game. Back 5 picks itself, as does the front 3 (same one v Watford!). Midfield will have Fab, Hendo and possibly a surprise (Ox/Taki) as Keita played 3 games for Guinea and a full game v Watford. Hopefully Curtis is fit for the game.

I have wondered similarly in general - without picking the players - but I do feel someone from the front 3 is being rested ahead of Old Trafford given this is our toughest CL game and we are in a good position already. 

I'd back us to win in Madrid with our best team if we needed to win but as we don't, have United next week, then I can see something plans that all of the main XI doesnt have to play 270 mins in 1 week.

Although Mane against Savic and Trippier on that side is appealing

TAA and Robertson will play if the subbing today is to make any sense. I do think we'll see at least one, and quite possibly both, centrebacks change. Henderson, Fabinho plus another in midfield. And i can understand resting Mane or Salah.

Ali, Trent, Gomez, Virgil, Tsimikas, Fabinho, Henderson, Oxlade, Salah, Origi, Jota. 

And we'll get at least a point and rest a few ahead of the Mancs next weekend.

I don't think we see much of Konate outside the cups until the new year given what Jurgen's usually like with new players. If we're resting a CB for this, I'd rather see Gomez getting minutes at the moment

That's why you have a squad. Ali & Fab come back in which are already upgrades, then Gomez for Matip and Tsimikas for Robbo don't lower the standard noticeably. I'd start Jota over one of Mane or Mo and bring them on if you need them. I'd start Divock too but I think it's more important to give Bobby the game time

MF is tricky - depends who's available cos it's unlikely they'll want to play Milly 3 times in a week

We wouldn't be having the conversation if we didn't have United on Sunday mind. I'd be OK with a point from this game but I want to f***ing batter United
