Mutley Posted September 28, 2021 Posted September 28, 2021 One of the best, 286 goals, what a player. Rest In Peace.
Benzo-13 Posted September 28, 2021 Posted September 28, 2021 (edited) RIP Sir Roger. Gave me and some of my cousins football team an impromptu tour of the dug outs, tunnel and pitch years and years ago. Edited September 28, 2021 by Benzo-13 1
downunder Posted September 28, 2021 Posted September 28, 2021 very sad and didn't FYDS (say he) used to drink with him 1
charlie clown Posted September 28, 2021 Posted September 28, 2021 That's really sad. Roger was the reason I am a Liverpool fan and I knew him (and Tommy Lawrence) when I was a nipper. And I worked with his wife when I first started work. RIP.
guernseygareth Posted September 28, 2021 Posted September 28, 2021 YNWA. What a player but what a man. Condolences to family and friends.
Stevie H Posted September 28, 2021 Posted September 28, 2021 One of them my Dad always says would be worth a king's ransom in the modern game. RIP Sir Roger.
kop205 Posted September 28, 2021 Posted September 28, 2021 Ah no. RIP Sir Roger. Each one of these seems to get me a bit more than the last. Think a big part of it is knowing how much they meant to my Dad and how he'll be feeling about it.

charlie clown Posted September 28, 2021 Posted September 28, 2021 As some of you will know, I live pretty close to Dave (Anny Road) and one of the pubs near us is called The Horseshoe. It was Roger Hunt's local and you'd see him in there quite a lot. Anyway Dave was in there one night when a fella came in wearing a Liverpool shirt. This fella went to the bogs and Roger was going in just ahead of him and because he wasn't so nimble on his feet the lad with the shirt on started having a bit of a dig at Roger for slowing him down (he had no clue who Roger was). The young fella came out of the bogs a couple of minutes later so Dave asked him if he managed to get to the lavs on time and the fella started having another moan about the doddery owd bloke. So Dave then mentioned the shirt -"Liverpool fan yeah?" "Yeah". "OK - so I've got a quiz question for you... who is Liverpool's all-time highest scorer in the football league?". "Ian Rush", "No", "Robbie Fowler", "No"... it went on. "Give up?", "Yeah", "Heard of Roger Hunt?", "Oh, yeah, the great Sir Roger, how did I forget him?", "Well you've just been abusing him for the last ten minutes so it's no surprise that you forgot him". 4 3

Anny Roadf has changed his facebook pic to him and Roger Hunt in a boozer in Warrington. Roger never set foot in that boozer again so the story goes. 2 1
Bootle Buck Posted September 29, 2021 Posted September 29, 2021 A legend and as humble as they came. There will always be a Sir Roger chant on the Kop for years to come. RIP you legend!
