Cobs Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 (edited) We're all down - last night was a grade A kick in the goolies and we've all had a moan, which is fair enough BUT the season isn't over, the League isn't over and the FA Cup and CLs are still there to be won too. We need to pick ourselves up, stick together, forget what's just gone on, back Jurgen & the boys and go again Sunday. Man Utd away in any competition isn't one we can toss away. I'd rest both the fullbacks, put a bit of freshness into midfield but it's not one for a team full of kids Alisson Williams Fab Matip Tsimikas Jones Thiago Milner Salah Origi Shaq Edited January 22, 2021 by Cobs
Gethin Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 I think he'll go stronger than that but if we're going with a team like that I'd play Minamino instead of Origi and I'd be surprised if Tsimikas is fit enough to start yet, so either start Robbo or Milner there
Hightown Phil Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 Can't see Firmino not starting based on last night.

First start in months - has that massive chance in the 1st half and it's an inch or so from opening the scoring and it's a different game. he wasn't great but was more of a threat than Bobby has been of late and had the confidence to get his shots off - i'd give him another go 1 minute ago, Hightown Phil said: Can't see Firmino not starting based on last night. because he was good, Div was bad ? Or just on rotation basis ?

However, if we are to play Origi we need to say "you're in for the next six games" and then whether he keeps the shirt is up to him. Firmino is now eminently droppable but Div needs to proves he is selectable. He won't show that with a few minutes here & there and the odd start in a weakened team.
cymrococh Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 (edited) I think we know by now that Origi is not selectable. Minamino looks rubbish as well, nothing to do with strength or pace of the game, just basic decision making and ability. Edited January 22, 2021 by cymrococh
Bootle Buck Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 I'd pick our best available team for this and keep playing them until we get our confidence back. It's easy for us to talk about giving the likes of Ox, Minamino or Origi a chance. Let's face it they largely are anonymous when they start. We have played so well that last two years with largely the same starting XI. Our squad has never been good enough to make too many changes. Right now it is threadbare of the type of quality needed to be able to make wholesale changes.I think Klopp really has to demand the very best out of these lads and not just HOPE they find a way to win like they have in the past
RedHarvest Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 I'm all for playing our strongest available 11, try and grind our way out of this s***ty form. The underperforming players dont want rest they want more chances. Better that its v utd Ali Trent Matip Fab Robbo Thiago Gini Jones Mo Bobby Mane

jimbolala Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 I thought only Shaqiri out of the 3 brought in looked anywhere close to a first teamer. Maybe we need him to play behind the front 2 of Mane and Salah, load midfield a bit more, throw a swerve ball for once in a while.
D.Boon Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 Struggling to give a f*** about this game. I'm going to get leathered and hopefully by Sunday be ready for selection.
Hightown Phil Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 Next round is gonna be a Wednesday night between City 4.30 Sunday and Leicester 12.30 Saturday. Sure Klopp is excited by that timing.

growler Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 To do what? Quick games or more gaps doesn’t make much difference anymore really. actually think we need the games to find some rhythm.
