Not sure who we can bring in really? I’m presuming what it is Keita has done to himself now isn’t just a one game thing.

Thiago on the bench would be nice.

Posted

Alisson

TAA Williams Fabinho Robertson

Henderson Wijnaldum Milner

Shaqiri Origi Minamino

Subs: Kelleher, Adrian, N.Williams, Phillips, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Thiago, Jones, Cain, Clarkson

I think Klopp said Keita is out for this one too. Shaqiri would add some creativity. Or Chamberlain. He done a few things wrong but created the chance for Firmino that should've won it, and he gives a decent threat from outside the box.

Matt Critchley just hinted that this match could possibly be called off cos Newcastle played City on Boxing day.

Trent on the bench, Neco at right back with Hendo and Milner behind Gini in midfield.

I could see that, to be honest. But probably less likely with Rhys at centreback. I know Newcastle are no great shakes at the moment but it would weaken our right side considerably.

Having said that... I could almost be tempted to rest Fabinho and play Rhys and Phillips in the middle (with TAA and Robertson outside them). It's only Newcastle innit (which makes the point in my first paragraph entirely redundant).

I think there's no chance the season doesn't get finished. Far too much money involved and cases aren't that bad in football.

Yeah I’d be staggered. They’ll just postpone and make teams catch up with games every 48 hours.

And surely Newcastle can just test their squad? It’s two days away.

We have to get to 19 games at the top.

That just means it doesn't get voided, not that it properly finishes.

If the postponements pile up I don't see where they put the fixtures.

Maybe it finishes but f*** me it could be a grind.

If there's any kind of delay, Euro 2020 (!) will be in danger and I can't see UEFA wanting to sacrifice that for a second year running.

Between now and the end of the season we have 3 midweeks that PL games aren't currently scheduled on, 2 midweeks where we're not playing CL R16 ties. We may get 2 or 4 more if we get knocked out of the CL.  Then if we go deep in the FA Cup, the QF, SF and Final dates would all involve having to reschedule league games. There's so little wiggle room

Phillips in cos it’s probably a game where there’ll be some headers to be won.

Would do Chamberlain and maybe Milner for Wijnaldum and Jones I think, add a bit of pace and intent in to the midfield.

Okay, bring in Chamberlain and Milner. But who else do you want to bring in for the pace and intent...
