Gethin Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 Awful news - gutted about this. Looks to be complications after a heart operation. YNWA Ged 1
Barnesy_10 Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 Absolutely gutted at this news. Legend and such a lovely man.
Barnesy_10 Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 YNWA Gérard absolutely gutted at this news
Tommy Cockles Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 RIP Gerard mate, some extraordinary times we had together. And due to my terrible record of only attending losing European finals since 2001, still my only European trophy.
psl Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 Really sad about this. As someone who came fairly late to football, he gave me my first taste of a Liverpool trophy win, of beating Manchester United and of a team thay could defend a corner. May 2001 was amazing. Thanks for the good times Gerard.
genghis Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 RIP Gérard. Complete gent and an LFC legend. Pulled us back up from nowhere, signed the SH's, brought through Owen & Gerrard, gave us some cracking finals, and won a lot of silver things. YNWA.
Swipe Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 Really sad. Dragged us back from such mediocracy.
Redwire Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 Awful news, absolutely gutted. That Roma game when he came back after his surgery. When the rumours started that he was at the ground to the roar when he came out of the tunnel. I'll never forget the atmosphere that night. RIP Gérard
MarkD Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 RIP, lovely man and always be remembered fondly and with gratitude
Begbie Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 Gutted, did so much to turn us round at the time I watched us live most, very fond memories RIP GH
Rusty Shackleford Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 f*** sake. The first manager I ever really loved as a kid. I’ll always remember the absolute mystique around his appearing on the touchline against Roma in 2002. Back then we didn’t all have phones with the news that he’d returned and him appearing late in that game was brilliant.
Leo No.8 Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 (edited) So sad - 73 is no age these days. Some wonderful memories of his time with us. Having grown up with the Souness and Evans years, he gave me the first Liverpool team that I watched regularly that defended proudly and that was really something. We also became a force again in European football for the first time since I was a kid and could really appreciate it, which was a great adventure. RIP Ged, thanks for everything you did for us. Redwire Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 Really glad he saw us win the league. The culmination of a journey that he started. 1

Billy Talbot Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 I loved Houllier. I shook his hand once. A treasured memory.
DonRafa Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 RIP Gérard. Gone far too soon, condolences to family. Gave us some truly unforgettable memories. YNWA
