Keep on getting injuries and it is surely now getting far too ridiculous for it to be bad luck....is it? Off the top of my head here are members of the squad that have got injured for a sustained period of time since the season began:

Allison, Trent, Matip, Gomez, Virgil, Tsirnkas, Thiago, Henderson, Milner, Ox, Shaqiri, Keita, Jota, Fabinho

Bound to have missed someone, but looking at that list you could make a starting eleven of that.

WTF is going on?

No idea. Opposition fans will say we’ve been lucky in seasons past but I always remember us getting pockets of injuries in the same position which is way worse than when it’s spread evenly across positions.

This season is completely nuts though. Everyone seems to be getting more injuries but that list you’ve just written is a 14 squad team of injured players that would arguably beat most teams on the planet. It’s absolutely gutting.

Don't think so but players like Mo, Bobby, Gini rarely get injured and they cover a lot of ground. Matip and Thiago have always been injury prone, it is something we knew about before buying them. I think its looking like a combination of bad luck, injury prone players and training methods.

We seem to have quietly gone about amassing a squad with quite a few players who pick up regular injuries. Many of the starting eleven from the last few seasons have an excellent record but it’s those around them that just don’t.

Matip, AOC, Keita and Shaqiri are so incredibly fragile. There’s a debate to be had about Gomez and Thiago’s appearance record doesn’t fill me with confidence despite the fact that t***’s challenge would have taken out anyone.

Perhaps the expectations we have of our players physically doesn’t combine well with a condensed season.

We just can’t carry so many.

We're down to the bare bones and I don't know how much more the squad can take. The youngsters (Phillips, Jones and Kelleher) have done fantastic considering the circumstances but if your first choice back 3 are out where do you look? Today we had f***ing Minamino playing as centre half! Two midfielders in central defence, like when the f*** did that ever happen in a Liverpool side? Anyone?

We're now coming up to one of the busiest periods of the year and playing a game every three days since the season started is raging havoc on our squad. I just don't know how much more they can hold on, we're on the point of collapse, its a f***ing miracle that we're joint top of the league despite our awful away form.

This is it.

Some in the first XI have frequent injury issues. But those behind them on the bench have too. So the 'first' reserve players are never available to rest the first XI, meaning they have to play more often, meaning more chance of a break down.

Then we have to go straight to kids to cover. van Dijk down to Matip is a big drop-off but van Dijk down to Rhys Williams is so much of a bigger drop-off. And repeat through the team.

I'm a huge fan of Shaqiri and feel he's been underused when fit BUT he's the perfect example. If he had been fit and played in midweek Jota wouldn't be injured.

We're playing a ton of games with no time for recovery or rehab and we've been down numbers since the start of the season due to Covid so players are having to play too many games without rotation. That explains the little niggly muscle injuries. Everyone seems to be getting them albeit not on the same scale as us yet. We've just got a few major injuries on top of that which can be put down to bad luck.

we fell into the injury sinking sand. Injuries mean you can't rest other players so they get injuries

It's catch 22 as well isn't it. Players get injured. None injured players have to play more because there's no alternatives and then they tire out and pick up injuries

3 of them are from bad tackles. VVD, Thiago and Jota.

Add in the injury prone players who always pick up knocks and miss games - Matip, Hendo, Keita, Gomez, Shaq etc, even Allison - then add in the players injured from too many games like Milner and TAA... And well, we're f***ed.

Makes the midweek game even more bizarre really. We're back to relying on Origi or Minamino to change a game.

we did change medical team apparently. I'm sure the interview process was diligent, but on the surface, hiring anyone from arsenal medical team doesn't seem like a good move.

He was with us before going to Arsenal so they'll know about him already

The medical guy we were supposed to be getting from Arsenal (Brian O'Driscoll's cousin incidentally) didn't come in the end. We got Chris Morgan from them but he's not not in charge of anything, he's just one of the physios. The guy we got from City in '18 is in charge of the physios. Gerrard and Henderson spoke very highly of Morgan when he was here the last time.

Quote

Gerrard said: “He was initially the reserve-team physio, doing bits and pieces with the main squad, but Chris was so good at his job that more and more often, I went to him first whenever I felt a niggle or was worried about a more serious problem.

“As the years passed, I learned to trust Chris completely, whether it was during a recovery from injury or him listening to me unburden myself with some of my darker doubts.

“He helped save my career a couple of times.”

Shaqiri, Matip, Keita and the Ox...like what's the point? As soon as they build up a head of steam and start playing well they break down. Compare and contrast to our other midfielders and front three who very rarely get injured. Milner is more reliable than this lot and he's 34. Time to clear out in the summer.

They and the two manc clubs both have bigger squads - so swapping like for like players.

Our squad carries too many crocks and our u23s is filled with 16 year old waifs, need to build them up, billy k the exception, not the norm.

How do they have bigger squads? We have gini, Thiago, hendo, Keita, Jones, shaq, Milner, minamino - not even counting fab. We have front 3, plus jota, origi and minamino.

full backs we have neco and tsimi and gk we now have kelleher.

literally only gap we have is centre back.
