Rory Fitzgerald Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 Tierney should be back for Arsenal after pulling out before the West Ham game. Hard to call their line up. Could be Holding, Gabriel, Tierney - but Luiz could come in and push Tierney to LWB. Front 3 looks like Willian, Lacazette, Aubameyang - the other options are Pepe/Saka to play instead of Willian Midfield 4 - Bellerin and Xhaka probably start as RWB and RCM - thereafter, 2nd CM spot could go to Ceballos, Elneny, Maitland Niles. LWB could be anyone from Tierney (if he is not in the back 3), Saka, even Maitland Niles or even Kolasinic. I think the main call will be Luiz to CB and Tierney to LWB. I'll go; Holding, Luiz, Gabriel Bellerin Xhaka Ceballos Tierney Willian Lacazette Aubameyang Arteta is settling on a style of play so I dont expect him to change the 3-4-3 or take a backward step and not play a strong front 3 even though they are away. In that sense, it will contrast with the set up of Lampard playing us at home.
Cam Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 Not quite the intelligent, analytical examanination proffered by Rory... but it's so very odd seeing Willian in red.
Rory Fitzgerald Posted September 25, 2020 Author Posted September 25, 2020 I'm interested in people's thoughts about the midfield 3. Gomez is back in training today according to Klopp, so the assumption is that he'll start. Then its 3 from Henderson, Fabinho, Thiago, Wijnaldum and Keita.
Gethin Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 I’m assuming Hendo won’t be fully fit so I’d go Fab, Thiago, Gini and bring on Naby second half if Gomez isn’t fit drop Fab back and start Naby
Cam Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 Really can't see Keita starting. Arsenal look good, strong (in an un-Arsenal way) and with wingbacks plus the two wide forwards we will need strength and positional awareness in midfield. For that I'm sure it'll be Henderson, Fabinho and Wijnaldum; I'm sure he will want to play Thiago but one tactical mis-step from a newbie and it could be a goal against. Obviously, this depends on Gomez being fit. Similarly for the League Cup game and how that central defence, and therefore midfield, is set up. I guess Jones has earned a start there which leaves two from Keita, Thiago and Milner.
Conrad Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 Keita shouldn't be anywhere near starting. I'd have Jones ahead of him at the moment, let alone the other 4. 1
Swipe Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 Agree. It'll be Thiago, Gini and Fabinho if Hendo is out and Gomez is fit.
Earl Hafler Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 I think they've done a job on us in midfield recently so I'd like to see Thiago, Fabinho and Gini start, with Gini and Bobby pressing them when playing between their defence and midfield Keita shouldn't feature after that performance from Jones last night.
Kvarme Ate My Food Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 Thiago defo starts. Fabinho unless he’s needed in defence. Henderson if fit. Gini if either Fab or Hendo aren’t available for midfield. If Fab is in defence and Hendo isn’t fit then it’s Thiago, Gini and Milner.
Sion Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 They think they're good again. Can we just hammer them

Although Milner wasn't involved last night which I presume must have meant he had a knock?
muleskinner Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 Jarg wants to f*** them, I'd be happy with the 3 points.

Their twitter nerds seem obsessed with claiming Tierney is better.

The amount of people on Redcafe and the like who think we're basically just good exclusively because of Klopp. And he would have Wan Bissaka and Lingard playing like Trent and Mane. 1

I wish we'd got to see Wan Bissaka play as a winger. How the f*** did someone so clearly s*** at being a winger get anywhere near professional football playing as a winger?
