Any of you guys keen on a spot of fishing?

I've done little more than a load mackerel fishing over the years and I take my 2 boys fishing off the local pier but I'd love to try the more intricate coarse fishing and I've just discovered there's an excellent reservoir right on my doorstep which is filled with carp, bream, tench the works.

I've always wanted to give it a go and now my 13 year old is expressing an interest we're going to learn together. Problem is, it's just so much more technical and intricate than horsing a trace off the edge of the Eisenhower.

Any suggestions as to where I even start? There seems to be so much gear needed, beyond the rod and reel, what are the very basics to get us started?

I've reached out to the fishery for advice too but there's none more knowledgeable than the ynwa clan.

Feel free to brag about your biggest catch too.
