New house, new start. A month of intensive refurbishment doing up a place formerly occupied by a 98 year old lady to make it habitable and we are 95% there.

We are next to a main road, we bought it during lock down when it was quiet and knew the traffic would increase, but it is seriously doing my nut in at the moment, especially at rush hour. I've spent the best part of £2000 on fencing with this sonic lining applied and I think it's worked to an extent but didn't do a before and after decibel check. The neighbours are friendly and assure us they are totally switched off and it doesn't bother them, they don't even think about it, all the signs are it will be ok once we get used to it. Except I have one mate lives near to the M4 and has hated it for years, has never grown to ignore it.

So who's right, the neighbours or my mate?
