psl Posted July 10, 2020 Posted July 10, 2020 (edited) Chance to go on to 95 points, get Mo some goals for the golden boot race and keep a clean sheet to put Ali level with Pope for the golden gloves. Feels like they have been doing ok since lockdown but they got smashed at City, although that isnt a sign of a poor team... Milner in for Henderson I reckon. Keita will surely start again. Must be a long while since we were on telly on Saturday at 3pm. Edited July 10, 2020 by psl

Rusty Shackleford Posted July 10, 2020 Posted July 10, 2020 Midfield of Fabinho, Keita and Wijnaldum for this one please.
Rory Fitzgerald Posted July 10, 2020 Posted July 10, 2020 (edited) Results since the return: 3 wins of 1-0 (v Watford, West Ham, Palace), 1-1 vs Sheff Utd and lost 5-0 away to City Formations: Gone 4-4-2 in four of the games, except Palace when they played a 4-5-1 or 4-4-1-1, only 1 striker Defence: Expect to see Bardsley (RB), Long (RCB), Tarkowski (LCB) and Taylor (LB). Ben Mee is injured and definitely out. Midfield: Before Jack Cork got injured, they went, Brownhill (RM), Cork & Westwood (CMs), McNeil (LM). With Cork now injured, they've pushed Brownhill inside and put Erik Pieters on the right. In the 4-5-1 they played vs Palace, it Pieters/Brownhill wide, Cork/Westwood central and McNeil floated off Vydra. Attack: Jay Rodriguez and Matej Vydra have started all 5 games as Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood have been injured. However, Wood has come off the bench in the last 2 games. Goals: Since coming back, Rodriguez has 2 and the other 2 came from the CBs, Tarkowski and Mee. Percentage play: 2nd lowest in the division with 43%. Since return, they only had more possession than Watford (55%-45%). They play the 2nd most long balls per game which is saying something as they don't have the ball an awful lot. With little of the ball and kicking it longer than most teams it means their pass success rate is the lowest in the division. That leads to the low scoring numbers in recent games. They managed 1 shot vs City all game. Left-side / Right-side: The players on the flanks are very distinctive in terms of their contrasting capabilities. Right: Phil Bardsley (35) and Erik Pieters (31) are largely defensive players. They've lost Gudmunsson to injury, Hendrick is out of contract and now Josh Brownhill is pushed inside. Left: Two of their most promising players are on the left in Dwight McNeil (20) and Charlie Taylor (26). Taylor has an attacking mindset and likes to get forward. Not particularly overly fast or full of step-overs, but a tidy and willing 6'1 full back that covers alot of ground. He played a bit at Leeds with Chris Wood too, so well used to picking him out. He's one that Dyche thinks should be in the England mix and could be a potential replacement for Chilwell at Leicester. It's is also an area to be looking to exploit - City got in that side a few times. You can put that down to rustiness on the 1st game back but if there is one area of the pitch that Burnley might loosen up "positional-wise" when on the ball, its the left side, so more likely to catch a few spaces on the turnover. A few examples of their positional play - but vs Palace, McNeil was playing off the striker. Edited July 10, 2020 by Rory Fitzgerald

Maharajkumar of Vizianagram Posted July 11, 2020 Posted July 11, 2020 It's brilliant having so many matches in quick succession. We should have this arrangement all the time, seasons that go from August to February. If you don't have a big enough squad to cope with it, then tough s***.

épieur Posted July 11, 2020 Posted July 11, 2020 Brave call to leave keita out given how gini has looked lately. But interesting team all the same.

Yeah, no point playing him on the left at all on that evidence. Looking forward to seeing him get a full game on the right.

Falconhoof Posted July 11, 2020 Posted July 11, 2020 Can’t tell you how excited that Williams and Jones are starting this.
