Liverpool vs Aston Villa - Sun July 5th (4.30pm) SkySports

Formation: Since coming back, Villa have played variations of 4-5-1 - Chelsea (lost 1-2) and Newcastle (drew 1-1) before changing to a 2 man strike force and going 4-3-1-2 against Wolves (lost 0-1).

Season Formation: In the 9 games before the break, Villa had gone with a 3 man defence in 7 of them, so this wont come as a surprise if they change with Guilbert back as he could play RWB with Konsa pushed inside.

Injuries: Targett played LB in the 3 returning games but is out with an injury. Neil Taylor could come in. Guilbert at RB could be back for them which could push Konsa inside beside Mings

Goals: Grealish (7), Wesley (5) is injured, El Ghazi (4), Hourihane (3), Douglas Luiz (3), McGinn (3), Trezeguet (3).

Most Minutes: Grealish (94%), Mings (82%), Douglas Luiz (72%), Targett (69%), El Ghazi (66%), Guilbert (66%), McGinn (63%)

Set pieces: They have 12 goals from set pieces (joint 2nd highest) which is one-third of their 36 goals. However, they've also conceded 14 from set pieces which is the highest.

Dean Smith: On criticism about players not showing enough desire; “I certainly see passion. I just think there’s a distortion by not having supporters there....The stats are telling me we are running more than we did before. We are covering the ground with more high-speed running.....The chances are few and far between without the supporters there and there are fewer mistakes. We are doing everything we can but we need more quality in the final third.”

Team: I'm going to have a guess at 4-2-3-1

Nyland (Reina)

Konsa Hause Mings Taylor

Nakamba D-Luiz

Trezeguet Grealish El Ghazi

Davis

The last time we played them. They scored, sat back and we had all the ball.

Heaton, Targett, Engels and Wesley are all out. Guilbert could be back. Probably see alot of that midfield 5 tomorrow again though with Grealish to come in.

Did they go after Lovren that game, the little they had of play went more down our right. The side they won their free kick on in the 1st half and the side they got down in the 2nd half for the cut back that Van Dijk cleared.

Keen to see the champions back at it today. I don’t think a poor finish to this season would be helpful for next season, and we want the records.

These aren’t as good as us so I reckon we’ll win.

Reading that back I’m embarrassed to be in the same thread as Rory. I mean not embarrassed enough to stop or anything, that would require some level of humility.

I’ve had the same thought. Unlikely but I can see an outside chance

Would also play Keita. But then I'd play Henderson, Trent and Keita in the midfield because f***ing why not?

That sounds like great fun.

I'd play Keita today.

Should start the next 6 games, his last chance to show us what he can do
