Bailo Posted May 14, 2020 Posted May 14, 2020 Am currently re-mortgaging (2nd time after original purchase) and the legal firm handling it for HSBC are asking for indemnity insurance for a "title possessory". We have transferred indemnity insurance for some restrictive covenants on the property ("maintain a nice fence") but not for this. However, on previous Land Registry docs from past remortgages, we're down as "title absolute" but on the most recent one the solicitors have got we're back to "title possessory" - why the switch? All the more annoying as our current mortgage company (first direct) are basically the same as the new company (HSBC) and they didn't kick up a fuss last time - in fact it's HSBC's name all over the Land Registry documents anyway.
