1. Real Sociedad (obvious Liverpool connections, Toshack, Aldo, Xabi Alonso)

2. Brondby IF (Laudrup brothers first club, they were good in the 90s also. Beat us in UEFA Cup)

3.  Kuusysi Lahti (They beat Soviet champions Zenit in the 80s and I f**ng hate Zenit. It was a great laugh, the most enjoyable result of the season. I still remember, Kuusysi had one overweight 40-year old or smth English guy and he was the best player on the pitch. They ve dropped to 4th division now)

4. Dundee United (They were very good in the 80-s. Believe it or not they ve played Barca 4 times and won all 4 matches. Should ve been Liverpool Dundee United 1984 European Cup final if not for the bent ref)

Glipton Grasshoppers.

Actually, no, they are basically a Trojan Horse/gateway drug for Newcastle United, so they can f*** off as well.

Maybe Boca Juniors. Nice kit and a tradition of being left wing.

I'm geuinely really enjoying antona's musings on obscure 1980s football stuff, by the way. It is like he has been in stasis for 30 years and only just discovered the internet. We need more like this.

Covid-19 effect. in normal circumstances of course I wouldn't have time to post so much on a football forum.

I find the opening premise to be absurd.  I say Up the Reds and b******s to anyone else.

If we are playing of course its Up the Reds and b*******s to anyone else even if I like that particular "anyone". But I think you can have a soft spot for other teams esp if those teams rarely if ever play against Liverpool.

You don’t give a flying f*ck about Real Sociedad. Or Dundee United. If they played each other you’d forget til the following Thursday and would sheepishly look up the score.  Prove me wrong.

What about having a 'soft spot' for a different team? Like, yeah, don't really give a f*** about them really but, you know, if I had to name somebody, then, you know

I follow their results and if we are talking about Sociedad I know their current squad and how they play. Dundee Utd are too sh*t now to waste time  watching them)

The Dynamo teams were alway good for a soft spot

I just like saying it that’s all, all I know is we played them and Case scored 3

Tory pricks at that ground. All showing the rags logo and pics of Johnson on their phones.

That was also a positive. Delighted.

All the build up before kick off, the bantz official twitter account,  then the biggest hiding they have had in years on their own patch dished out. Marvellous.

Man U & Everton with a soft spot for Chelsea, Millwall & City

And when Man U play Everton? I suspect the biggest brawl in the history of football would be ideal with both teams relegated as a result. But if that option is not available who would you like to win?

suppose that depends on the relative positions & what's at stake.

All things equal I would prefer Man U to win now. That seems strange for a non-local fan but its cause of Everton's new owner, Usmanov.  2 or 3 years ago they were irrelevant to me now they top the hated list.

Always had a soft spot for Dortmund since the days before the PL when Sky showed it live. (There was a three way league fight that went to the last day between VfB Stuttgart, Eintracht Frankfurt & BVB)
So the year Lovren scores the last minute winner I end up over there in the Westfalenstadion at their last game of the season. Was a nice experience and all. People very nice at the game but I’ve had minimal interest in them since.

Its like every other football experience is Toytown compared to Anfield.
