I've had an idea. I think we should trial it for a few weeks

why don't we 'wipe' everyone's user name and 'disconnect' them from their posting history?

then each poster is given a number for identification

then posters can create new names if they wish but they can't be names previously used and they can't post anything that in any way deliberately reveals who they used to be

so someone else might refer to 'complex property deals' but I can't

arising from this we might get:

'play the post not the poster' - a long held ideal, but easier said than done, will become a thing. We'll be wiping the slate clean and a hundred schools of thought may flower, what with all the bickering and bad blood behind us
it would be an interesting social experiment
we can turn it in to a game - guess the poster's true identity; and if you're trying to conceal your ID or simply turn over a new leaf in good faith, it will be interesting to see whether a leopard can change its spots. The rules could be, each poster gets five...or 10 guesses - the one with the most 'strikes' wins.
If you're a prolific poster, you might want to see how long you can remain anonymous - or just be yourself!
