Ant Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 It's actually dawned on me that if we want to, we can win the treble. Whilst I appreciate the message Klopp is trying to send, we're about 12 Games from immortality in the cup competitions if we go all the way,and baring any further replays in the cup should we progress I don't think we'll ever have a better chance of doing it, with the ability to all but rest players from the end of March given our league dominance. Someone needs to have a quiet word with Jurgen, give him a big hug, tell him he's absolutely right, to protest fixture congestion but he has the opportunity to go onto a bigher plane of existence. Put out a decent side in the cup Jurgen and lets keep pushing on.
downunder Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 I don’t see why those who need games can’t play v Shrewsbury. Adrian, Matip, Lovren Clyne (?), Milner, Lallana, Keita, Shaqiri, Minamino, could all play if fit?
The Hitman Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 Totally agree. We’ll never have a better chance.

Cobs Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 Steve Nicol (i know he's not regarding as the brightest tool in the box) was on the radio the other week saying he'd rather see Liverpool go the League season unbeaten than win the treble, which I thought odd but he was arguing as an ex-player saying it was a greater achievement as it was something LFC had never done before

mofus77 Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 This topic is a bit pointless, there's no way Jurgen will play anything but the kids on Tuesday night. If they can get through against Shrewsbury then it's worth chatting about but not yet.
Jarg Armani Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 The Treble 100 points+Season unbeaten That’s the correct order of importance isn’t it?
Conrad Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 It is.But this is also correct 1. The league2. The European cup3. The FA Cup
Earl Hafler Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 The Treble 100 points+Season unbeaten That’s the correct order of importance isn’t it?Sneek a PL / CL double in between Treble and 100pts
Cobs Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 We've never won the treble either. He said 'i won the treble in 84' he was told that wasn't 'the' treble and he kinda went 'Pah...'
Hightown Phil Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 It is.But this is also correct 1. The league2. The European cup3. The FA CupBar the bit where you got 1 and 2 the wrong way round yes.
Conrad Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 1 and 2 aren't the wrong way round. not this season
Jarg Armani Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 Sneek a PL / CL double in between Treble and 100ptsYes. I’d rather an old fashioned league and FA cup double to being unbeatables or whatever arsenal called it as well.
Hassony Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 We've never won the treble either. We've won two trebles before though haven't we? Nicol still talking nonsense though
Boca Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 We've won two trebles before though haven't we? Nicol still talking nonsense though I think we all know what treble we're talking about. And yeah Nicol is talking s***e.
Cobs Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 the only reason why it's 'the' treble is because the mancs did it and have tried to belittle our (2 trebles) with it. they might have a point in 2001 because there was no league title but the treble we won in 84 was every bit (if not better) than the one they won in 99 because 1) it was our 3rd league title in a row (there's was their 1st of 3)2) the league cup win was our 4th in a row (an incredible achievement, something no other English club side has ever done before or since in either FA or League Cup)3) the league cup was taken seriously by all participants back then - we beat West Ham, Spurs, Man U & Everton in the finals - all cup winning sides of that time, whereas Utd beat a forever bottling Newcastle4) we beat Roma in their own ground to win EC anyway, in short, Nicol is wrong, IMO - but there were several fans agreeing with him
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 Yes. I’d rather an old fashioned league and FA cup double to being unbeatables or whatever arsenal called it as well. We exist to win trophies some guy once said that
_00_deathscar Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 What's the order of preference then (league is all won)? IMO...Treble > League + European Cup > As many points as we can tally / Unbeaten* >> League + FA Cup *Can't split them - especially seeing as we'll get 90+ anyway - not like we're going unbeaten on 78 or something Basically, winning more trophies is always great - but if given the chance would rather set new records in League than win League + FA Cup.
surf Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 We're decreasing our chances of winning the FA cup in return for a greater shot at winning the EC, a greater chance of going unbeaten and a greater chance of a record points total i'm fine with that
growler Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 (edited) I don’t get the best chance ever, won’t get another chance etc. bulls*** we won’t. I’d rather dominate the league and leave a serious marker, add the European cup again and then add the fa cup. Granted league is done, but European cup looks a tough one this season as does fa cup and between European cup and fa cup, only one winner for me and isn’t the one sponsored by emirates. rednotdead Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 We’re already 99% of the way to a treble. Would be nice to have a quintuple though.
Tobes Rafa Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 What moniker do you think they'll use for us if we do go unbeaten and score 100+ given Arsenal are the Invincables despite drawing 12 (I think)? The Beasts? The Utopians? The Dreamteam?
madaboutlfc Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 We've never won the treble either.we've won two trebles
