cymrococh Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 Simulator here https://draw.inker.one/#/cl/gs Everytime I get Madrid. Kill a few mins of the work dayI think one massive club and two teams of sh*tehawks would be ideal.

Gethin Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 These are the pots as they stand at the moment with the last 3 qualifying games to play tonight - the 3 clubs not in bold are probably going to go through but it could be Apoel, Lask or Cluj instead. If any of them won, they'd be in Pot 4 so Lyon, Lokomotiv and Genk have a small possibility of bumping up a pot. https://www.footballseeding.com/european-cups/champions-league-seeding-19-20/

kop205 Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 Spurs in the same pot as Real seems a bit mad, as does Chelsea's Europa League win getting them in Pot 1. Benfica, Salzburg, Genk or something like that would be nice.
Hassony Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 Brugge and Atlanta, so we get to see Liverpool legends Mingolet and Skrtel once again at Anfield
LicK Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 Chelsea getting in Pot 1 for winning the Europa League is ridiculous.
Tommok Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 Brugge and Atlanta, so we get to see Liverpool legends Mingolet and Skrtel once again at AnfieldThey'd both have the best games of their career tho

They should get entry and then go where their coefficient dictates
Gethin Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 Chelsea being in Pot 1 doesn't change much. If the EL winner didn't get into Pot 1 as of right, it would probably go to Benfica (Portuguese champions - Portugal is the next highest country ranking after Russia). Chelsea's ranking would put them in Pot 2 - so all that would do is take out an easier team we can draw from Pot 2 and replace it with one we can't.
mofus77 Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 How are Man City (never made it past the quarters) in pot 1 but Real Madrid (winners of 3 of the last 4) are in pot 2?
Gethin Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 Pot 1 is the League winners of the 6 top ranked countries (Spain, England, Germany, France, Italy & Russia) plus CL winners and EL winners. Pots 2-4 are the other qualified teams ordered by ranking coefficient I hadn't realised that until someone (I think Hightown Phil) pointed it out back end of last year

Hassony Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 How is the russian league ranked higher than the Portuguese league?
Hightown Phil Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 How is the russian league ranked higher than the Portuguese league? Russian clubs have collected more UEFA points in Europe in the previous five seasons.
Sion Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 How is the russian league ranked higher than the Portuguese league? Its marginal and might turn around by next season, but its not like the Portuguese teams have done anything of note in the past 5 years.
Hassony Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 Russian clubs have collected more UEFA points in Europe in the previous five seasons.I get that, just find it surprising
Hightown Phil Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 I get that, just find it surprising Basically Benfica and CSKA were in the same CL group two years ago. CSKA beat them home and away and then got the Europa League quarter finals.
Gethin Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 Surprised me that Holland are 11thhttps://www.footballseeding.com/country-ranking/a2019-2020/Hadn't realised how hard it is for lower ranked countries to ever move up. Top countries with more teams will usually get more ranking points even in an average year than countries with fewer teams below them.
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 I mean look at the recent seasons - EC winners have been from England (4), Spain (8), Germany (1) or Italy (2) since Porto won it in 2004 - runners up have all been from those 4 countries too in that same time.
