magneto Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 Suggestions from Paul Joyce that Klopp will start rotating, especially in midfield but possibly putting Gomez at RB. I'd ideally like the midfield rotated only (keeping Fabinho). For Burnley, Ashley Barnes is third top scorer in 2019 and is in good form this season. Always a tough place to play away.
Benzo-13 Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 Would hope for rain. They won’t water the pitch.

Anyway, rare opportunity to play Burnley when they’ve had less rest than us. Great to see them playing Wednesday.

He doesn't get much help from Salah, or have Van Dijk on his side of the defence. Klopp: "Against Arsenal he was really good, really aggressive, blocked challenges, smashed his body in. It was his best performance this season"
Hightown Phil Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 Yeah. Did you read if? It’s very little to do with next week and more to do with the next few months and how he’ll manage the workloads of players.

I don't think he'll rotate yet but there is a risk of burnout for Trent and even Robbo
Bailo Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 Burnout of our two FBs and our front three keeps me up at night
Conrad Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 i expect he'll go full strength for this. whole week to rest/prepare same team that started v arsenal

Cunny Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 I imagine Gomez, Milner and maybe Origi will start this.
Hightown Phil Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 I imagine Gomez, Milner and maybe Origi will start this. Salah and Mane have got two weeks off after this so I doubt they'll not play so not sure on Origi. Feels like a Milner type game, but worth remembering Lallana has started the last few against these.
épieur Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 But worth remembering Lallana has started the last few against these.Think you meant to post that in the "Weird football things/stats that just don't sound right" thread.
Michael Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 I don't want to see Joey G at RB ever againWhether he plays RB or CB this game will be tough mentally for Gomez.
Molby Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 Whether he plays RB or CB this game will be tough mentally for Gomez.how come?
The_Adder Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 Apart from those two spots in midfield surely the team picks itself for this? And for any decent game really.
kop205 Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 Whether he plays RB or CB this game will be tough mentally for Gomez. I'd be very surprised if it is any real issue for him
Conrad Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 Apart from those two spots in midfield surely the team picks itself for this? And for any decent game really.what two spots in midfield you are always trying to drop henderson and gini
Hightown Phil Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 what two spots in midfield you are always trying to drop henderson and gini It's probably cos the manager does it as well?
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 I don't want to see Joey G at RB ever again we're agreed on that It's internationals after this - we have a week off before this - no need to rotate really. In terms of game time to players - at 4-0 up vs Norwich I'd have been lashing the likes of Brewster on
Cam Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 They'll be counting all our goals on the fingers of one hand. 6-0 then.
Rory Fitzgerald Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 Had a quick look at these. In the Arsenal game (if you take it that they’ll approach us the same way), their midfielders had more touches in Arsenal’s half than their own. That looks like they’ve bypassed Westwood and Cork in midfield to play to Barnes & Wood with midfielders picking up second balls. If they do, and Barnes/Wood win it and Cork/Westwood pick up the pieces then the 3rd ball is to wide area for a cross. It’s close to how they scored vs Arsenal. To Wood, to McNeil, to Barnes via deflection, goal. It’ll be no picnic against Matip & Van Dijk so if we can choke Burnley picking up 2nd balls, then we’ll cut a primary out-ball. As for attacking them, their back 4 got pulled a bit by Arsenal and it will be interesting if the wide midfielders will play high/narrow in midfield or deep/wide to let the FBs tuck in. Either way, I think we’ll get a lot of space for the full backs. Dyche will make sure they’re tight when out of possession and it’s just a question of what McNeil and Gudmunsson are asked to do. I think it’ll be high/narrow beside Cork/Westwood purely to be able to support the strikers better in the transition.
