Hassony Posted August 10, 2019 Posted August 10, 2019 Thought Oliver was ok on Friday, not a difficult match to ref though tbf 7/10
Cheesecake Posted August 10, 2019 Posted August 10, 2019 (edited) Don’t think there was anything contentious in the game, was an easy one for him Edited August 10, 2019 by DPD1973

Leo No.8 Posted August 10, 2019 Posted August 10, 2019 Oliver is very good but agree, easy game for him. Wonder if stats will be compiled about how many times refs get over ruled by VAR. I guess they will.

Cheesecake Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 To be fair, if the VAR people were worth their salt they would have helped her with the two penalties, not her fault she was hung out to dry by them.

Maldini Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 They've really made an absolute dogs dinner of VAR, there were 3 or 4 major issues on Saturday as well. It needs to be the referee calling for assistance rather than an always on option. It's going to fundamentally change the game. The cynical part of me wonders how long until it's sponsored and we have picture in picture ads while we wait on the decision.

Cheesecake Posted August 15, 2019 Posted August 15, 2019 if that Man U pen against PSG is given (and it shouldn't but was) then tonights one is a penalty all day long. Still a pen though making the body bigger etc.
cocknose Posted August 15, 2019 Posted August 15, 2019 UEFA didn't want var to overrule her because of different reasons joe Cole said, and he was right. Basic stuff like throws and goal kicks even went the wrong way.
Martian Posted August 15, 2019 Posted August 15, 2019 Atrocious refereeing. This experiment should not be repeated.
Cheesecake Posted August 15, 2019 Posted August 15, 2019 I may be wrong but if the ref says pen, can't VAR say NO?I know that like in the PSG-MU game VAR overruled the ref and said pen, surely VAR can say hey ref - NO, you got it wrong?

New York Red Posted August 15, 2019 Posted August 15, 2019 Great that women are officiating. Absolutely no reason not to.

Absolutely no reason not to.I dont care if a goat refs it, just get things right and treat them the same as male refs, if she made a mistake yesterday then var should have stepped in but it didnt, twice because they didnt want to on this big occasion they had created by going on about the first female ref blah blah blah. I thought she was poor, hardly blew her whistle, missed obvious things like throws and goal kicks going to the wrong team and got 2 penalties wrong

cocknose Posted August 15, 2019 Posted August 15, 2019 ALL media outlets bending over backwards to say how good she was, its positive discrimination.
muleskinner Posted August 15, 2019 Posted August 15, 2019 Seen better performances, definitely seen much much worse.
