psl Posted August 8, 2019 Posted August 8, 2019 Right, that's it then. Squads are known until January. Time to settle in for another titanic battle against the City behemoths. Let's go win the f***ing league. I'm hoping we are a couple points clear after round 1.
Case Posted August 8, 2019 Posted August 8, 2019 Spurs are definitely in the mix after their window. Their midfield/attacking options are greatly enhanced. They are not quite at our level but are much closer than they were. Their issue, as ever Is with unproven full backs and goalkeeper at the very top level. We've a good squad. If the key players stay fit, if the front three are managed properly and told to take breaks now and again, I think we'll be very very close. I think 90-92 wins it this season, and we're one of three capable of getting that.Further back, Chelsea have a good squad, but they need a good start otherwise the ghost of Hazard will do for them. Everton have had a great window, I think - could break top 6. Arsenal have had a decent window except, as ever, at centre back - they have a real blind spot there and THEIR keeper isn't great either.Utd haven't had a great window either - very piecemeal. Maguire is s***e, AWB is good, but they had bigger issues to solve elsewhere in my view.

Spurs have made good additions, I don't think they're anything near enough to close the gap though. Their full-backs could become a problem as well
Bogman Posted August 8, 2019 Posted August 8, 2019 Spurs are the biggest concern, but even that could have been a lot worse. Arsenal/Utd/Chelsea haven't really improved the areas they needed to improve. It's there for us if everything alleigns. City favourites in my mind.
Falconhoof Posted August 8, 2019 Posted August 8, 2019 I’m hoping that City suffer some sort of existential crisis, Something needs to get in their heads, and particularly Aguero.I need him to suffer some nagging concerns or get into drugs, or for there to be crushing homesickness for the Argentine.
Ombudsam Posted August 8, 2019 Posted August 8, 2019 I would be saying we’d be closer to third than first if I hadn’t see the second half of the Community Shield. Now I think we can win it. If you bet on us not to win it then you’re more likely to win money than not.
Dan Posted August 8, 2019 Posted August 8, 2019 We'll be challenging deep into the season. That's all you can ask for.
Cheesecake Posted August 8, 2019 Posted August 8, 2019 It’s fine margins, a bounce here, a deflection there, we’ Be right in it.

Hightown Phil Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 Couldn’t Spurs still lose Erikssen and Alderweireld ?Everyone could still lose everyone.
rednotdead Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 Spurs strengthened one of their key areas, but possibly at the expense of Eriksen.Their defence is arguably worse than last year and that and their dodgy keeper will ensure they wont get near 90 points. None of the rest did anything to scare me. More of the same for Arsenal, nothing for Chelsea except losing their best player, and United have spent all their money on the 2019 Phil Jones.Unfortunately, there's City
Swipe Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 A good window for spurs and I’d expect them to get closer to us and city. Still too reliant on Kane though. Thought getting another goal scorer in would be something they’d absolutely sort this summer.
McBain Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 West Ham need to set the tone for all of City's oppo this year on Saturday. Dont just accept you're getting beat but have a go. Play front foot. Nobody is touching them if they just sit back and wait for the inevitable
Earl Hafler Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 A good window for spurs and I’d expect them to get closer to us and city. Still too reliant on Kane though. Thought getting another goal scorer in would be something they’d absolutely sort this summer.Lloris is Lovren in goalRight back might be an issueDefensive mid? There's a chance he switches to a more attacking strategy in some games but then plays both Rose and Sessegnon against the other top sides We might win fewer points against the rabble but fair better against Utd and City. What will really help our chances is if City drop points against those clubs who've strengthened during the summer

He was great in the game against City I thought. Agree about Lloris. He's miles below Alisson and Ederson.
Earl Hafler Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 Completely forgot about him Yeah, he's good. Hopefully doesn't adjust to the league or lifestyle
Swipe Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 What's this Lo Celso fella like? Brilliant name, at the very least.
Sion Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 West Ham need to set the tone for all of City's oppo this year on Saturday. Dont just accept you're getting beat but have a go. Play front foot. Nobody is touching them if they just sit back and wait for the inevitableI kind of get what you're saying, but it's easier said than done. City suffocate teams and don't let them play.
épieur Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 I kind of get what you're saying, but it's easier said than done. City suffocate teams and don't let them play. Think teams like wolverhampton showed that they can be got at if you are bold on the counterattack and hit their left side. Too many teams who just want to get out of there without too big of a beating. And then that's exactly what happens.
Hassony Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 Completely forgot about him Yeah, he's good. Hopefully doesn't adjust to the league or lifestyleHopefully another Tiémoué Bakayoko
Hassony Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 What's this Lo Celso fella like? Brilliant name, at the very least.Flopped at PSG, did well at betis Always amazed by the number of people who seem to watch the likes of lyon, Betis and lille on a regular basis I'm confident Zinchenko will cost them pointsHe's s***e, but unfortunately he won't be facing Salah every week Other teams will give him a much easier time
