magneto Posted April 10, 2019 Posted April 10, 2019 Chelsea seem to be on a bit of a resurgence after their defeat at Everton with wins over Cardiff (lucky win), Brighton and West Ham. The irony of us having to play them at Anfield towards the end of another title-chasing season isn't lost on many (expecting Demba Ba's name to be sung louder than usual). Nothing but a win will do and it's time we did them over at Anfield after failing to beat them in Liverpool since the 8th of May 2012. Team? Same team as the win over Porto except for Robertson returning for Milner and Matip back in for Lovren. Hassony Posted April 10, 2019 Posted April 10, 2019 (edited) I'd take a draw now if it's accompanied by a city defeat earlier in the day Gini definitely back for this one btw Edited April 10, 2019 by Hassony
Molby Posted April 10, 2019 Posted April 10, 2019 I'd take a draw now if it's accompanied by a city defeat earlier in the day Gini definitely back for this one btwNot me I’d insist on a HEAVY defeat so that we go above them on goal differenceThese negotiations are all about the details Hass
Rory Fitzgerald Posted April 10, 2019 Posted April 10, 2019 When we played Chelsea in 2014 at Anfield, it was the Sunday 2pm game and City played away at Palace at 4pm. It was the day the title momentum swung for the final time. Now it's the same games but flipped KO times. I'm keenly hoping a not uncommon footballing moment of serendipity can occur and the day ends Liverpool 85Man City 81
psl Posted April 10, 2019 Posted April 10, 2019 This is the big one. Still got PTSD from 2014 I think.
Hassony Posted April 10, 2019 Posted April 10, 2019 Not me I’d insist on a HEAVY defeat so that we go above them on goal differenceThese negotiations are all about the details HassFair enough In that case add a late equalizer for us as well, to help with the narrative that this is our year
Conrad Posted April 10, 2019 Posted April 10, 2019 Lovren should keep his place. I wonder if they'll rest any
psl Posted April 10, 2019 Posted April 10, 2019 Lovren should keep his place. I wonder if they'll rest anyI think they will rest them in the Europa.
Conrad Posted April 10, 2019 Posted April 10, 2019 I think they will rest them in the Europa.but that's there only chance of a trophy. I guess you may be right
Cam Posted April 10, 2019 Posted April 10, 2019 Fair enough In that case add a late equalizer for us as well, to help with the narrative that this is our yearAn offside goal at that.
Case Posted April 10, 2019 Posted April 10, 2019 I'd put Matip back in for Lovren - He was ok last night, but I don't think he and Van Dijk work as well together as VVD and Matip. If we want to play Lovren there'll be other games coming up. I think Jurgen, while talking up Porto, saw it as an opportunity to have a look at Lovren. And I'd 100% have Gini back for this too - possibly in place of Fabinho, who has looked really tired recently. I'd even be tempted to play him instead of Keita, for the extra physical presence in midfield.Think me and Swipe are meeting up in Carlow to take on my family, Gangs of New York style before, or even during the match. Swipe's round, obvs.Oh, and Molby's right - even in City lose, I'd prefer an 8-0 win over a 1-0 loss in this one.
Conrad Posted April 10, 2019 Posted April 10, 2019 Hazard doesn’t play at all in the Europa does he?Ah, That's a shame. I didn't realise Sarri wasnt prioritising it.
Case Posted April 10, 2019 Posted April 10, 2019 I think he should - Is the final at Napoli? His ex? That'd be great. And they're the strongest team left in it.
Jarg Armani Posted April 10, 2019 Posted April 10, 2019 (edited) The final is in Baku. Michael Oliver reffing our game City get Martin Atkinson Edited April 10, 2019 by Jarg Armani
McBain Posted April 10, 2019 Posted April 10, 2019 Hazard doesn’t play at all in the Europa does he? He barely plays in half the games Hi cobs
Barnesy_10 Posted April 10, 2019 Posted April 10, 2019 Fabinho needs to do a reducer on Hazard early doors and if he survives just stick to him
Farmer's Tan Posted April 10, 2019 Posted April 10, 2019 (edited) We are much better than Chelsea, this is 2019 not 2014, we are a bigger and better than they will ever be. We will beat them and they can f*** off, i am more concerned with "lesser" teams away from home scrapping for survival. Just like Crystal Palace this weekend for Man City is a tough game for them (not sure if they are in any sort of relegation danger) the type of game you would expect them to win but they lost to them already and i think its more likely they drop points against them again than there is us dropping points against Chelsea. I can see us winning all of our remaining games in the Prem it's just a matter of if City can win all of theirs. Edited April 10, 2019 by Farmer's Tan
Des Posted April 10, 2019 Posted April 10, 2019 I can see us winning all of our remaining games in the Prem it's just a matter of if City can win all of theirs. It's never ever that simple, although of course I hope it is. And Chelsea are a definite threat.
Farmer's Tan Posted April 10, 2019 Posted April 10, 2019 It's never ever that simple, although of course I hope it is. And Chelsea are a definite threat. Its not simple but we have that resilience that i am not sure City have, as good as they are. We look like United did during winning run ins where they would just find a way to win. We have that steel and belief about us now. Of course we can drop points but i genuinely think we will win every game.
