charlie clown Posted January 7, 2019 Posted January 7, 2019 Question: I have two worksheets. One has a range of data - lets say its a list of names (Bobby, Ron, Yvonne etc.) plus some other data. The names can appear multiple times (i.e. in many rows) The second has a list of info, arranged in rows, one of the cells (let's pretend it's Sheet 2, cell A1) in each row contains one of those same names I would like to add a new column into Sheet 2 which contains a formula which counts each occurrence of the name in Sheet 1. I have been dicking around with a Countif that says 'Countif the range in sheet 1 contains the actual name "bobby" ' and that works OK but I would like it to say 'Countif the range in Sheet 1 contains text which matches the name in Sheet 2 cell A1'. I can't get it to work... any ideas how I could structure the Countif (assuming that's the right formula to use)?
