pipnasty Posted November 20, 2018 Posted November 20, 2018 Apart from Liverpool, what is the best club side you have ever seen? For me, the AC Milan team with Gullit and Van Basten have got to be up there. But, I think the Barcelona team of 2010 - Messi, Villa, Xavi etc - are still the best I have seen. Liverpool at their best would have battered either of them, like. So, go on then
Hassony Posted November 20, 2018 Posted November 20, 2018 Barca with Messi, Suarez and Neymar were special, better than the 2010 version in my opinion
Nebraska Red Posted November 20, 2018 Posted November 20, 2018 Being one of the older forumites, I give you Ajax and Red Star Belgrade from the distant past. From recent times, I'd also go with the Barcelona team that beat Juventus in the CL final.
Benzo-13 Posted November 20, 2018 Posted November 20, 2018 I liked Van Gaal’s Ajax side. The Bosman ruling destroyed them but the players were incredible. They danced all over a decent Bayern in one game. No time for Barca.
Conrad Posted November 20, 2018 Posted November 20, 2018 Either Kendall’s Everton or the 99 Man Utd side
muleskinner Posted November 20, 2018 Posted November 20, 2018 A couple of the Barcelona incarnations, AC Milan of the Gullit era, would like to have seen more of Flamengo and the South Americans of that era too.
Earl Hafler Posted November 20, 2018 Posted November 20, 2018 Of the great teams not yet mentioned, I enjoyed watching the Bergkamp / Henry inspired Arsenal in their pomp - the one side back then against which I never wanted us to play
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted November 20, 2018 Posted November 20, 2018 Either Kendall’s Everton or the 99 Man Utd side the 99 Utd side wasn't that good Best I've seen is Liverpool reserves
épieur Posted November 20, 2018 Posted November 20, 2018 Peps Barcelona stands out For me the mid 90s Juventus side comes closes. A side decades ahead of its time in terms of squad depth and rotation, tactical fluidity and midfield control.
cymrococh Posted November 20, 2018 Posted November 20, 2018 Rafa's Valencia, or that Madrid side that bummed the Mancs at theirs.
Ombudsam Posted November 20, 2018 Posted November 20, 2018 One of the iterations of Guardiola’s Barca. Anyway, this City team could be the greatest in the Premier League era if they retain this title but how many of their players get into an all time Premier League XI.Peps Barcelona stands outFor me the mid 90s Juventus side comes closes. A side decades ahead of its time in terms of squad depth and rotation, tactical fluidity and midfield control.I think that’s a it hipster but Nedved’s or Zidane’s. It can’t be the one that beat Ajax in 96
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted November 20, 2018 Posted November 20, 2018 Rafa's Valencia, or that Madrid side that bummed the Mancs at theirs. rafa's Valencia were good - late 80s/early 90s Milan but hard to say with the ban
kop205 Posted November 20, 2018 Posted November 20, 2018 Rafa's Valencia Yeah, they were a proper f***ing team Arsenal as well were good. Limiting it to sides we've come up against.
NeilJ Posted November 20, 2018 Posted November 20, 2018 Of the great teams not yet mentioned, I enjoyed watching the Bergkamp / Henry inspired Arsenal in their pomp - the one side back then against which I never wanted us to playYes, that time we somehow managed a 2-2 draw against them at Anfield they were brilliant. Unfortunately I would also have to say the Chelsea team that t****** us 4-1 in 05/06.
Maldini Posted November 20, 2018 Posted November 20, 2018 Barca with Messi, Suarez and Neymar were special, better than the 2010 version in my opinion No Xavi no party
New York Red Posted November 21, 2018 Posted November 21, 2018 (edited) Ajax. 71-73. CruyffRepNeeskensKrolSuurbierHahnKeiserMuhren Just awesome. Although the Bayern side following up after them was pretty awesome too. Edited November 21, 2018 by New York Red
Ed the Wool Posted November 21, 2018 Posted November 21, 2018 I wasn’t being serious! You had me going. Was about to suggest burning you as a witch!
Conrad Posted November 21, 2018 Posted November 21, 2018 I did have a soft spot for the villa side of Mortimer, shaw, withe, cowans and Morley Not a great side by any means but certainly achieved a lot
épieur Posted November 21, 2018 Posted November 21, 2018 I think that’s a it hipster but Nedved’s or Zidane’s. It can’t be the one that beat Ajax in 96Zidane's, the year after, after Baggio, ravanelli and vialli were just straight up sold for del piero, boksic and Vieri. They absolutely destroyed everyone that season except for a jammy Dortmund team in the final. Three finals in a row and 2-0 up in the last semi the year after that with only one trophy to show for it. They were a bit unlucky.
Stevie H Posted November 21, 2018 Posted November 21, 2018 remember thinking sacchi's milan were pretty devastating. tassotti, baresi, costacurta and maldini at the back with the three amazing dutchmen ahead of them. donadoni and ancelotti weren't bad either.
doug_mac Posted November 21, 2018 Posted November 21, 2018 Barca with xavi/ iniesta/busquets/ alves/villa all in their pomp. Messi playing in the centre with pedro and villa wide of him. Schooled the mancs in the champions lge final 2011. Dani alves was the bol!ox back then. Pity we didnt sign him when rafa wanted him
