He has taken up residence here in Malta. He enjoys turning up at events involving youth football and is very approachable from what I hear. Loads of my friends got their kids to take pics with him etc.

Clearly Bellamy didn’t hit him hard enough, often enough or high enough.

It’s absolute garbage.

not really surprising that.

I've read Gerrard's, Carra's & Pepe's (Reina) - wouldn't recommend any of them

Of course, but they’re not pricks. And Riise come across as a giant one.

Don't get why Riise gets such a hard time. f***ed up horribly in the CL game vs Chelsea, but up to that point was a solid left back who scored some great goals and very important goals. He's also very positive about us, unlike some former players.

Can't see myself ever reading any football player's autobiography though. The best bits come out in the press, and the rest is inevitably dull.

He's an absolute idiot unfortunately. I doubt he or anyone else needs is a book about him.

"Advantages and disadvantages being John Arne Riise" is the title in norwegian, directly translated.

It makes me go numb.

He made it despite lack of real talent. He worked hard to get where he got and I do respect that though I wish he'd eased off.

edit: I saw him just a few weeks/months after Istanbul. I was still buzzing. Yet I could not bring myself ´sharing my joy with him´. It makes me feel s*** but I pretended I did not recognise him. I want people to be happy but the display he provided made me go numb. Again.

What made you read it in the first place?

That’s a good question. I liked him as a player - never thought he was a great defender, though he was improved by Rafa, but he was exciting going forward. I knew about the Bellamy incident and the Chelsea f***up and heard snippets about him being a bit of a loner - so I thought I’d give it a go. I don’t agree that all autobiographies are rubbish.

But this one is for sure, and the person just comes across as odd, naive, unlikeable, thick, spoiled, childish, even nasty.

What do you mean by ”could not bring myself sharing my joy with him”?

What makes somebody sit down and think ‘you know what I’ll do today? I’ll read Riise’s biography, that sounds like a great way to spend my time’

I can’t even imagine Riise’s mum has ever thought that
