Need to get back to prolific winning ways and facing Red Star may help.

Although I feel Klopp may rotate the back 4 again (Trent coming in, and even, dare I say, Albie at LB). Fabinho/Wijnaldum/Shaqiri in midfield and Mane/Firmino/Salah up top.

Not going well with the match threads this week, is it?

Anyway,

Alisson, TAA, Gomez, VVD, Robertson, Wijnaldum, Fabinho, Shaqiri, Salah, Firmino, Mane (if fit. If not, probably Milner or Henderson in midfield and Shaq further forward).

Double Agents

In advance of our first meeting on Wednesday, YNWA looks at the career of the only player to have represented both Crvena Zvezda (aka Red Star Belgrade) and the reds.

Marko

Serbian midfielder Marko Grujić was born in Belgrade. He signed from Crvena Zvezda for £5.1m in January 2016, immediately being loaned back for the rest of the season. He has only made fourteen senior appearances to date, spending he second half of last season on loan at Cardiff City and is now with Hertha BSC Berlin for this campaign. He struck six times in 41 outings for Red Star in total, helping them to claim the League title in 2015/16 and being named in the Serbian SuperLiga Team of the Season.

Down Memory Lane

YNWA looks back at our previous meetings with Crvena Zvezda (aka Red Star Belgrade) as we prepare to entertain them in the UEFA Champions League group stage on Wednesday.

Learning a painful lesson

In October 1973, Slobodan Janković struck a goal from thirty yards before Vladislav Bogićević volleyed in from a seemingly offside position. Chris Lawler bagged our consolation as we lost this European Cup Second Round first leg 2-1.

We also lost the Anfield return by the same score, our first home defeat in Europe’s premier competition, with Kevin Keegan having an effort chalked off despite the ball appearing to have crossed the line. Chris Lawler was on target again after forward Vojin Lazarević had opened the scoring for the visitors. However, Janković struck his second goal of the tie to consign us to defeat.

A more positive spin is that Keita is already back running, and could be back this weekend.

Seems certain that Fabinho will start this with Hendo and Keita out and Milner and Gini fit but nursing knocks.

Miracle we managed to qualify last season with him starting all six group games really. Even more impressive we actually qualified for the group stage. He'll play games this season and he'll be fine without being brilliant. Like whatever second choice left back we have.

Keita is this season's Joe Cole.

I imagine his lawyers are drafting papers right now

WHY OH WHY do people keep putting Moreno into our starting lineups? If we were playing the Met Police in the Cup R3 I wouldn't want (Barca bound) Moreno in the starting lineup
