Hassony Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 Good interview yesterday on BT sports, almost feel sorry for him https://twitter.com/mrjakehumphrey/status/1033451284794404865?s=19
Gerry Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 At a guess for running down his contract with us and then joining a club which is absolutely loathed by all our supporters. I mean, I wouldn't call him a rat but I don't have a lot of sympathy for him (not that I'm likely to listen to him droning on for 9 mins). Didn't realise he faked an injury for Newcastle when his contract was coming to an end.
kop205 Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 No sympathy for him whatsoever about not getting is move back to us 'cos Real acted like dicks - lie down with dogs and you get fleas. But then to be fair I'm not sure he is asking for any either. I've got sympathy with him over the injuries, at least those he had wth us anyway. He's still a boring wool meff.
muleskinner Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 I thought it was an interesting piece, he wasn't looking for sympathy from what I took from it. He f***ed us over but we moved on from him well. He was electric in his first few years, absolutely top drawer striker so I just tend to remember those times about him, his latter career was a mess.
Benzo-13 Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 He’s an island now because of the Manc move. No one loves him.
meredithmathieson Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 Xabi Alonso played for Real Sociedad, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich and is adored by fans of all four. Owen played for Liverpool, Real Madrid, Newcastle and Man Utd and is viewed with utter indifference by fans of all of them.
Rimbeux Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 It’s a shame for him that his body couldn’t sustain his talent. Might even have helped win us more. As a person though he comes across as the self-serving but civil type; calculating enough to run down his Liverpool contract to make himself more marketable, money motivated enough to pursue a better contract offer from Newcastle and status orientated enough to take a bit part role at Man Utd, all considerations put way ahead of any sentiment he had for LFC, so it shouldn’t be a shock if loads of reds don’t laud him like they do others who may have done less on the pitch.
Hassony Posted August 26, 2018 Author Posted August 26, 2018 Socidad fans still love xabi despite him playing for Madrid? Think a better comparison is Torres, he ruined his Liverpool legacy and seems to hate playing football after leaving us
Kvarme Ate My Food Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 Owen is a knob. He’s boring and thick too.
psl Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 I'm over it. He gave us the FA Cup and loads of other memories. Forgiven Torres too. Life's too short.
New York Red Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 I’m totally indifferent to him, though I really hated him at the time he screwed us over though. Same for Torres.

Leo No.8 Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 (edited) Michael Owen will live to be 150 years oldIs that because he’s so boring? I could see that - too boring to die. I forgot he played for Stoke. Edited August 26, 2018 by Leo No.8
Jarg Armani Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 I hated that whole time he was linked back here. The owners were being c****, Gerrard and carragher weren’t helping, tonnes of pressure on Rafa to buy the little prick back. I was made up he didn’t buckle, would have been a pain in the a*** having them all moaning when he didn’t start every week. A year later and purslow would have 100% bought him to do Rafa’s head in.
Falconhoof Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 Is that because he’s so boring? I could see that - too boring to die. I forgot he played for Stoke.Yeah he makes me think of a very comfortable aristocrat, combined with sporting health. 150 at least, like a Victorian Lord. We haven’t heard the last of him by a long chalk.
Tommy Cockles Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 (edited) Owen is a knob. He’s boring and thick too.Lad carried us for years, we should give him credit for that at least. Includes a few trophies as well. Edited August 26, 2018 by Tommy Cockles
