It looks like his left foot slides under the ball just at the point he hits it with his right

It's because it hit his standing foot that it got so much height.  I think it's clear, though it's an incredibly unfortunate way to get a penalty chalked off.

The f***ing luck of Real Madrid.

nah - you can’t have that. Think about how you’d write that in the laws of the game

I think it’s bulls***, tbh. The intent of VAR surely isn’t to “correct” minutae within minutae.

Literally nobody in the world is challenging that.

Yeah - this is what I mean. I don't mean writing it into the laws of the game, but there was no intent, no advantage, was just a freak thing, so I'd love to think common sense could prevail... or to put it another way, I think there would be far less controversy if they'd let it go and then (maybe?) seen afterwards that it was technically a double hit. Particularly since Real were destined to win anyway due to their deal with satan. Is it in the laws of the game for VAR to review penalties that aren't saved? I thought all they did was check that the keeper was on his line for any save.  Made me think of a Mankad dismissal in cricket. Technically correct, but still horrible and not in the spirit of the game.

Can't believe Athleti didn't go ballistic over that decision.

Simeone is too placid.

Didn't know that Hakimi, took a PSG flag at the end of the game, and laid it down in the center circle, which was then removed by a steward, but he ran back took it from him and put it back in the center.

I hope they get knocked out

but that's an assumption, unless you can be categorically sure of it you have to award the goal.

I mean it looks a little like that but then see Vini's peno earlier - that sure got some height on it and wasn't double kicked

bunch of c**** them. Their supporters in the ground looked aggressive too - most european away crowds seem more ok with things - Barca applauded us after the 4-0

I hope Villa do them, or whoever else they play should they get through. Tryhards, with their 50 some year history as a club.

Two rows ahead of where I was sat in the Lower Centenary a group of about 12 fellas arrived just before kick off … they were clearly all together and were spread across a couple of rows but in the vicinity of each other …. At one point we won a corner and one of them shouted out in French …. Then noticed some concerned glances from the guy and his mates as they looked around and then the bellends tried to hide it by clapping along to the Liverpool songs… then a guy sat in front of me clocked one of them unlock his phone and he had a PSG logo as his phone wallpaper… during the penalties they all acted gutted that Liverpool missed but at the final whistle they all had big grins on their faces …. c****

Alvarez said he didn’t know, he hadn’t felt that he had touched the ball twice. On the halfway line, Kylian Mbappé had spotted it (OF COURSE HE DID). On the bench, so had the Real goalkeeper coach Luis Llopis (OF COURSE HE DID)

f***ing c****

Ancelotti reckoned that by the time they had said anything, the VAR was already looking at it. “It was funny. We saw it and started shouting, I’ve never seen that before,” Rodrygo said. “The referee says that when Julián puts his foot down, he touches the ball, but the ball doesn’t move,” Simeone said. “The ball doesn’t move, not even a little bit,

if the ball doesn't move then you can't say he's touched it, unless you have a f***ing electron microscope
