After a deflating result in the Champions League Final I think it would be a good time to reflect on the progress we've made this season.

1. Made it to the Champions League Final.

2. Qualified for the Champions League again for the first time since Rafa's time.

3. Played some fantastic football.

4. Bobby, Mo and Mane scoring goals for fun.

5. Mo, golden boot winner and 44 goals scored in all competitions.

6. The emergence of both Alexander-Arnold and Robertson at full back.

7. The acquisition of Van Dijk and an improvement in defence.

8. Oxlade-Chamberlain coming to the fore before his unfortunate injury.

9. Jurgen changing us fans from doubters to believers.

Add anything else to the list :)

3 players scoring 20 or more for first time since 81/82 I believe.

Playing footie and scoring goals that looked impossible to stop.

VVD hugely improving us defensively

Absence of Moreno and  emergence of  Robertson making such a huge difference to our defence

No longer having to wait a season for Keita... Keeper aside, we have a real spine being built

It's the most positive season in aeons. I'd rather lose the final than never make it, so while it hurts I prefer to remember the last week - the last 3 weeks even - and even everything till the1st goal, we even equalized and got a good old jump around. 2 finals in 3 years and we'll be better next season. We're going places

Not for most of the season, but we could have done with him yesterday.

Can’t continue pulling this. Or Gerrard. Or Rush, Souness etc. We improved without him, and not just because of VVD. Firmino, Salah, Ox really stepped up.

yeah its like the old saying 'better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all', the pain of losing but the joy of beating city home and away, destroying roma in 30 minutes, scoring 7 goals twice in the group stage etc etc.

It's a shame that those games won't be remembered in the same way as if we had won. Same with the 07 run and even the Europa run a couple years back.

Mentally though for the players the games against city will be especially valuable next season - they know they have the beating of city no matter how or when they face them.

true

you have to expect us to be better next season than this, so no reason we can't go deep into the competition next season

yeah this season the aim was to get out of the group as a minimum wasn't it? The group was piss easy and porto were a joke but next season the aim has to be quarter finals minimum, at that stage anything can happen.

Have had the best part of a bottle of wine which is helping with the pain. Loads of positives to reflect on. Mo, Virgil, Robertson, Trent. The play of the front 3 killing top teams. The manager being the real deal.

Give him the money and let's do this properly for years to come.

We gonna say this every time we lose or draw?

Think it's fair enough to say whenever we start a game where there is absolutely nothing to come off the bench up front.

I was actually thinking that it would be good to have Brewster, Wilson and Woodburn backing up the front three for next season.

I now realize that is a maniacal idea. Deepest apologies.

nearly 90m earnt from CL run.

40m from standard chartered.

1m from tv screening.

sorry conditioned to think like fsg there.

on field positives, looks like we have a settled back four, and they look and play quite well with each other, don't need major overhaul, just depth.

The front three are frightening, again just need depth (ings, origi, sturridge, solanke aren't it)

Midfield needs more variety, Keita is a good start.

Fair review. The midfield needs work no question. Back four and goalkeeper though? I'd still like buys.

Alisson, Karius, Ward

TAA, Clyne,

VVD, Lovren, Khoulibaly, Matip, Gomez

Robertson, ????

Looks better than:

Karius, Ward, ???

TAA, Clyne

VVD, Lovren, Matip, Klavan, Gomez

Robertson, Moreno

Exactly. We need an option that doesn’t change the whole dynamic of the team if one of the front 3 comes off/ can’t play. Coutinho offered that. Unfortunately Lallana, even when fully fit, doesn’t.

For 30 minutes we witnessed the potential that we could be. Let's not waste the opportunity now to build greatness.

Probably the most uplifting sentences I've read since full time.

He does when fully fit but that hasn’t been the case at any stage this season
