Monday quite normal. Breakfast, off to work, run at lunchtime. Didn’t feel so good. Thought it was the Crohn’s. Picked up the Missus after work and headed off home. Stomach still playing me up so she gives me some buscapan and paracetamol. Had a cuppa and then told her I had to nip out. I actually had to get her a card and flowers for her birthday the following day.

Popped out to the shops and headed home. Less than five minutes from home I passed out/ blacked out I really don’t know what. But I felt a thud, the type you might get while waking up suddenly from a dream. More bangs and rolls later and car comes to a stop. Apparently I’d hit the kerb crossed to the other side, mounted the pavement, took out one of those tall street lights and ended up back in the middle of the road.

No drink or anything taken. No speeding as it’s headed up a steepish hill. Fire brigade cut me out by taking the roof off. I felt ok considering and bar cuts and scraps nothing untoward. Taken to and admitted to hospital and X-rays, scanned , ECGs, hooked onto a heart monitor. Having a CT brain scan tomorrow and have to see a Neurologist. I have no idea what happened. They drive to the shops is about a mile and other than stomach pains I felt ok.. Didn’t half balls the wife’s birthday mind.

Doctor who was with me Tuesday morning gave me the full monty of tests and doesn’t seem to think it was a black out. I really have no idea what happened. I didn’t fall asleep as I remember a van overtaking me, it’s a four lane road, just before it happened and was certainly alert at the time. Thank God no one was hurt and it’s miraculous that that’s the case. Am wondering if anyone has had or heard of similar cases?

Btw, it hardly goes without saying that our emergency services are priceless.
