Running Down A Dream by Tom Petty has been my match day getting ready song the last few years.

A Town Called Malice by The Jam was it’s predecessor and Wishing Well by Free before that.

Paint a vulgar picture by the Smiths.

Rabbit by chas and dave

thousands are sailing by the pogues

sunshine on leith by the proclaimers

Admittedly, these work when you are in your car with your mates who are on their 10th can on the way to brighton as it was this season

I absolutely hate that version.

It's not that I love the version, it's that it makes me well up because it reminds me of Istanbul. I'd never heard it before Sky used it over the closing credits for their coverage and I was somewhat "tired and emotional" by that point. Of course the Beatles version is better, but that's not the version that I associate with Istanbul.

Yeah it’s like I associate Hoppipolla by Sigur Ros with us in Cardiff due to a montage BBC used at the end of the 2006 FAC final.

there isn't one - I started with Liverpool themed/related songs. But anything goes really if it's your lucky song etc

I mean - Three Little Birds would have had little relevance before the UEFA run of 2016

I reckon that motage (not that I saw it) would probably have been even better if they just used the Beatles version, which would have made more sense anyway.

To be fair, I've always thought Connery was a bit of a prick and I just find that version massively affected.

But then this isn't about musical quality so carry on! Fair enough that it has those connotations for you. 'Have a Nice Day' by the Stereophonics is a s*** song but will always remind me of the 2001 FA Cup Final cos I got home just in time for the MOTD highlights and that was what played out.
