Good lad Macca.

In '77 I was recovering from an appendix operation which I had early in the morning of the Cup Final on the Saturday before. I came round in time to watch the match, then wished I hadn't.

I was racked with nerves for the European Cup Final which I think, could be wrong, was on RTE, possibly with Jimmy Magee commentating.

Was a strange few days for Jimmy Case. Scored in a losing Cup Final, at fault for Borrusia's equaliser, then lifted the European Cup.

I'll give this a good look later, cheers, mate.

‘77 was exactly one year to the day before I was born. The only final other than 2005 which was also on my birthday I can remember was ‘84

First one I remember watching was 84. I'd played footy in the park with my dad and my brother in the morning and he wouldn't let us roll our socks down cos he said it was a sign you were tired and the players mustn't do it tonight.

81, I just remember celebrating, photo in kit, with scarf, shiny new ball and holding up a goblet thing my brother had got for his first communion.

Ha Ha .... Fair play to your Dad for that - got you involved in the whole thing, the whole spectacle of it.

The first one of all I can remember was 1971 when Celtic lost to Feyenoord. I was pissed off when Celtic’s goal got ruled offside. Dad explained the rule to me.

In 1972 I was in hospital after being hit in the head with a golf ball but got out in time to see Ajax beat Panathaniakos.

Ajax against Inter and Juventus the next two years. Ajax just cruising.

Then Beckenbauer and his lot the next three years including that riot in Paris which was pretty ugly. We were warming up in the UEFA Cup then.

1977 was awesome. Keegan ran Bertie Vogt ragged. Rainer Bonhof was scary good. Tommy got a goal. Tosh played. Emlyn beaming. Then KK left for £500K and I was upset.

Then £440K that summer changed it all. The following May and I was at Wembley, right behind the goal when the King won it for us.

I missed 1981 totally. In the footie wasteland of America.

Caught it with a bunch of Argies in 1984 who loved Roma. That was delicious.

In 1981, our family were on holiday in Spain. We were in Barcelona and can remember my dad and 8 year old me sneaking into a café and it was packed. Dad stopped at the bar and these old fellas passed me down to the front to see some of the telly when they realised I was a little Red. Probably only stopped for the one beer but I have a memory of the goal.

Can remember the pens in 1984, watching in our lounge in Cardiff. In 85 I can remember burning home on my Mongoose BMX when me and mates realised the time only to see what had happened. Even as a 12 year old I couldn't believe they were going to play.

2005 was here in the Guernsey. In the boozer. One of us was quite serious about f***ing off at half-time. Standing up, getting ready to shout at Vladdy not to shoot. The place going mental at 3 all then nuclear when the Dude saved that pen. Cars driving along the esplanade, horns blaring, strangers hugging. Crazy.

Can't remember 2007.

If I get it for you, what do I get in return?

Are you a multimillionaire with a house on the beach with servants that’s usually empty for example?

Will eternal gratitude suffice? I have plenty of that.

Is this something to do with the Universe?

Cos I’ve already read the Secret and I know how NOT to get paid

Sigh, well I guess I brought it up so now I have to deliver

What size do you want?

77, went to Wembley for the FA Cup final, had to miss Rome because of A levels. Went to every game except Trabzon away.

78, almost missed the final as our car broke down just outside London. Only did Benfica away that season as I was in love.

81, me, my brother and 2 other lads convinced the club we had an organized trip to Paris and got tickets. 5 days in Paris was amazing. We still have the banner. We did Aberdeen and Bayern away that season.

84 was something else. We bought a 3 day trip to the final and ended up being forced onto a plane after the game as were not being allowed to go back to our hotel. In hindsight, probably the best thing as I think the day after the final might have been an issue for us. Only got to Benfica away that year.

85, the final is best forgotten. We did a couple of away trips to Panathinaikos and Benfica.

2005, I was over here in Nebraska. Watched it at home with my 2 boys. Nearly killed myself at the end by hitting a ceiling fan with my head.

2007, we were on vacation in Florida and I watched the game in a bar full of Italians. Not a fun afternoon as I recall.
