magneto Posted April 13, 2018 Posted April 13, 2018 Liverpool will play in the 2018 International Champions Cup Liverpool are the latest Premier League club to confirm their participation in this summer's International Champions Cup (ICC). The Reds will join Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham in the tournament, which features some of the biggest clubs across the world. Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Juventus are among a string of Europe's top team teams also taking part in the pre-season tournament. Jurgen Klopp's side elected to play in the Audi Cup in Munich last summer and last featured in the International Champions Cup in 2016. The fixtures, dates and venues for the competition will be confirmed later this week at an event in Miami. Sky sources understand that one of Liverpool's ICC matches will be played at the largest stadium in America, the 107,000 capacity Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor. http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11669/11327818/liverpool-will-play-in-the-2018-international-champions-cup
New York Red Posted April 13, 2018 Posted April 13, 2018 There’s one in Nashville too. I think I’ll be heading to that. Detroit can b*gger off.
Gethin Posted April 14, 2018 Posted April 14, 2018 I really wish we didn't play pre-season games against Premier League teams. It's b******s
Falconhoof Posted April 14, 2018 Posted April 14, 2018 I really wish we didn't play pre-season games against Premier League teams. It's b******sI feel sorry for the people abroad who go to them expecting a proper competitive football match. It’s fraud against the punters.
Barnesy_10 Posted April 14, 2018 Posted April 14, 2018 (edited) Will hardly be any first teamers travelling with the World Cup shifting their holidays Edited April 14, 2018 by Barnesy_10

downunder Posted April 16, 2018 Posted April 16, 2018 I feel sorry for the people abroad who go to them expecting a proper competitive football match. It’s fraud against the punters. For those who have never been to Anfield or have little or no chance of going back they mean a lot.Being so heavily involved in the tour to Aus in 2015, I could see the excitement and enjoyment these games and off pitch celebrations bring.
Falconhoof Posted April 16, 2018 Posted April 16, 2018 It’s a nice day out for people. It’s not proper competitive football though.
cymrococh Posted April 16, 2018 Posted April 16, 2018 I don't see your point here 'hoof. You surely wouldn't be happy if we started playing competitive games in Michigan or wherever.
Falconhoof Posted April 16, 2018 Posted April 16, 2018 I didn’t think I needed a well thought out point. I don’t think I have one. It’s 2 things really, it’s that the preseason games I’ve been to have always been tame affairs. Nice to see the players and especially the new signings but like football played by eunuchs. The second thing is that these new summer cups and mini tournaments get a big marketing push and a trophy at the end. I think masquerading as competitive football is all a bit fake.Having said all that I realise I sound like a curmudgeon.
downunder Posted April 16, 2018 Posted April 16, 2018 I agree the tournaments are a bit OTT but they have been around for years, we played in the Makita (sp) with arsenal and Porto (?) at Wembley in the lates 80s.
Nebraska Red Posted April 17, 2018 Posted April 17, 2018 There’s one in Nashville too. I think I’ll be heading to that. Detroit can b*gger off. Not Nashville, Charlotte NC. Nebraska Red Posted April 17, 2018 Posted April 17, 2018 That stadium at Ann Arbor is bloody massive. All for a collegiate football side. The USA is weird. That's only 1. Tennessee holds over 100k, Nebraska holds 93k, and there are many more that hold well over 80k. You have to remember that college football is bigger than the NFL.

You have to remember that college football is bigger than the NFL. Penn State (the wonderfully named Beaver Stadium) holds over 105K too. They've been talking about having a PIttsburgh v Philly outdoor ice hockey match there for years. That's possibly the only thing that would entice me to the US at the moment.
