Full backs are tricky. The positions of the midfield trio could argued.

Everyone is at their best obviously in this side and we’re not talking final year Stevie for instance.

Torres, Firmino and Mane some of the attacking subs.

 

Who should be in there in your view?

Most of the last 10y have been pretty s***e - good in 09, 14...and more recently

Finnan was gone by 08/09. Can't recall if he was around in 07/08 to make this team?

 

Front 3 is actually very tough.

 

Firmino and Suarez together would be a flipping nightmare for teams to deal with. But then do you play only 2 up top?

 

If you go 3, you have a choice of Torres, Coutinho, Salah, Mane. Torres still had one of the most incredible peaks I've seen (for all of Salah's goalscoring thusfar). But with 3 players, you know Firmino can't play out wide.

 

Surely too early for van Dijk and Roberston to get in? Why break up the back 5 that was so good in 07/08 and 08/09 (albeit Skrtel and Hyypia played a lot of games owing to Agger's fitness). And you can't really break up that dominating midfield trio either.

Width from the full backs - not so much bombing on ala Klopp's full backs but in the same manner they played in 08/09. Aurelio crossing to that lot with Gerrard bombing would be fun.

For the worst XI, I'd pick Rafa as manager.

 

For the best XI, depends on the balance of the team.

Glen Johnson for right back lads, Finnan was just about finished.

 

Centre backs is bloody tough, Carra and Agger I think. Carra still had it and Agger was playing well.

 

Left back has lots of admirable options without a stand out.

 

Midfield speaks for itself which leaves 3 strikers.

Sakho left back

Wijnaldum in a back 3

Spearing and Adam center mids

Replacing Jovanovic on the left with Downing

Dossena left wing

Sturridge 2013-2014 deserves a shout too -  35 goals, I think?  He was properly brilliant alongside Suarez.

Back three against anyone but City ( I’m not having Sané run at Carra and Hyypiä )

Also, I can’t have Firmino and Torres as I think they’re incompatible ( and Sturridge was a better player than Torres )

 

Getting the attack right with the forwards we have is difficult due to the wealth of attacking talent we’ve had over the last decade or so; different matter with the fullbacks.

 

Maybe, assuming Virg can play right side :

If it wasn't for the absolute crying shame of his injury record, I think there's be a lot more folks nodding in agreement there. Such potenial.

He was great. Not sure if I'd agree though that at their respective bests, Sturridge was better than Torres. It's a tough call and probably a question of taste.
